The ECFC is the brain-child of Todd "fishnut"
Gough and Brian "inshorefisher" Garris. The first meeting of the East
Cooper Fishing Club took place on February 5, 2007, in the Lighthouse
Church in Mount Pleasant. The attendance was amazing. We had 54 people
out for the meeting. During this event a Board of Volunteers was
selected. This board met on Febuary 14th at Blackbeards Cove. Each
member was given a specific task to complete before the next meeting of
the ECFC. As a result, the ECFC has now a mailing address, a bank
account, by-laws, a website, and membership forums. The 2nd meeting of
the ECFC was held on March 5th. Again, there was a very good turn-out
with many old and, at least, 15 new faces. At this meeting, several
aspects of the new club were discussed, including the organization of
the first ECFC fishing tournament, taking place on Saturday May 19th.
The third meeting took place on April 2nd with a "special appearance" of
guide Mike Waller who provided the audience with helpful advice about
how to catch more (and bigger fish).
