Let's say someone is going on a cruise and wants to take his own spirits. How would he do this. "he" has heard each person is allowed 1 bottle of wine. So maybe he could fill a bottle with his own spirits.

He is just wondering if anyone else has done this?

If you are going on Carnival, just call the Bon Voyage department a few weeks before you board. You can purchase a bottle and have it waiting in your cabin when you get there. Limited selection at a premium price, but very little trouble.

So I'm back from my cruise. As I said above, I did the sprite bottles. carefully pulled out of the cellophane wrapper then use a heat gun to make it look new again.

Also took empty wine bottles and filled with alcohol. put cork back in and used a shrink wrap top/label to make it look brand new and un-opened (can buy online for very cheap.$5 for 30)

also used the rum runners. Every thing made it onboard.

Just got back yesterday from a 7 day cruise on the Oasis. They will not allow ANY alcohol to be brought on board. If discovered they will confiscate it but will return it on your final day on board. That being said they can't possibly check every bag that is "checked" luggage. I got two 1 litre bottles on board while one of my friends got caught with one bottle in his luggage. Any liquor bought at the duty free shop will be held until the day before departure so you have time to pack it in your luggage. The level of security varies from boat to boat and from cruise line to cruise line. Go to the cruise line's website and look through their FAQ section and you'll find the answers you're looking for.

Just got back from a 7 day eastern caribbean cruise. Filled a hot water bottle full of scotch and sipped on it all week!

I experimented this weekend. took a sprite bottle turned upside down. The middle has a "belly button". Drilled it out, empty sprite. use a baster syringe/needle and filled up with water(just for the test). then used hot glue gun to close the hole. left bottle upside down in a can coozie until dry. No leak and looked just like sprite.

You can buy the caps online to put back on the water bottles. They will allow the seal to appear unbroken.

Happy, that is exactly what I'm thinking of doing. I'm worried they will notice that the safety seal is broken.

Just went on a cruise a couple months ago

You are allowed to bring a 12 pack of water. Buy the pack in the shrink wrap. Carefully remove the inner bottles. Fill with white rum and silver tequila. Sneak em back in the middle. Reshrink the wrap with a hair dryer. Enjoy

Nothing fancy. Put bottle of Vodka in suitcase. Get on boat. Remove Vodka from bag and enjoy. As stated earlier, this was all pre GWB.

Most cruise ships have "duty free" shops on board. Once on boat you can buy bottle of booze, tax free. No worries about getting it on board.

I've used these, but I'm not sure they are necessary.

We filled a wine bottle with vodka. Mixed it with the juices you can get free all day.

Been on two cruises. Took my own booze both times (thats how I roll). Buy one of the "boat drinks" on deck, then reuse the cup. It will save some cash. Both trips were before year 2000. Things may have changed.
