Anybody catching any shad at Wilsons Landing
jtg404 Posted - 03/28/2012 : 9:26:31 PM
tried the shad the last week of feb. caught the shad untill i could't rer; any more. had to put the rod down for a while and take a break, the water was running hard. had to drop down a little to find an eddy and keep moving in and out. the water would change and you had to fish the edge of the current. mostly all bucks few roe.

If they are pulling water drop down below the water intake to the old coal power plant and fish the edge on the current. you need to move your baat in and out the fish the edge of the current the current will change flow. I caught them untill I couldn't catch any more. I give out. If you don;t have any luck let me know and i will give you the secret. tom

Try Wilsons Landing. Its behind the santee dam. You can catch them from the bank there.

planning on trying the tail race canal monday afternoon and tuesday morning, does anybody know if the shad are running steady
jtg404 Posted - 02/20/2012 : 5:31:38 PM
I have caught shad in the rivers before using a johnson silver spoon with a red bead in fromt of the spoon. the best way to catch shad in ib behind a damm, the fish can't go up river anymore and fish the deep side you can catch them.

Hey JWS, in Tailrace or Wilson's?

You can't catch fish on a dry line
