Posted - 02/27/2012 : 11:08:20 AM Fished with an old bud Saturday afternoon, 54 degress air temp, we went up the creeks to hide from the wind. Got right on them again. Bits were fast tap, tap fish on or off, you had to be quick. We landed a good 40 trout, fish were 13" to 28" big and small ones thrown back and kept a few for supper. We had double's and triple's on, I had my bud fishing two rods, all fish caught while trolling. Get out there the trout bite is off the hook right now, all caught on grubs

Posted - 03/12/2012 : 9:23:27 PM I put an inshore post on the site last November of a 24.5" (my personal best). I was by myself but managed to get a pic. No weight though as I too was concerned about the fish's health so I put her back quick. I'm encouaged about the numbers but let's be conservative with the take. Keep fishing ya'll. Local Boy, I guess you figured out by now, this is a tough crowd. If there's no pics after a great day like that, there will be doubters. What kind of grubs were you using?

A little ribbing never hurt anyone. But when you're conducting RESEARCH solely to discredit someone's report, maybe you should find another hobby...

Posted - 03/06/2012 : 08:18:15 AM What Raddaddy, Vinman and other said. Until the back to back, winter trout kills, on my charters I targeted trout exclusively. This for 10 years in Destin and Edisto. I can count on one hand, the big trout we've caught during this time.
Here's a big trout,for Edisto:

Here's a link to recent article that, hopefully may help someone's fishing. <http://www.southcarolinasportsman.com/lpca/index.php?section=reports&event=view&action=full_report&id=155743> Bob Sanders FishingWithBob Edisto Inshore Charters Big Fork Farms LLC Real Estate Sales 803-300-2780 803-259-1374 bob@fishingwithbob.com www.fishingwithbob.com www.southcarolinalandonline.com

Posted - 03/05/2012 : 11:49:02 PM Is that really a fish you caught or a pic you found??? I don't know a single person who would cut their own head off in a pic holding a fish like that.

Posted - 03/01/2012 : 3:46:48 PM Checked BassProShop catalogue - - looks like the Chicken on a Chain pattern, avilable in 4" length. They do make 6" and 9" plastic shad baits, but I did not see that pattern. You been fact-checked, but congrats anyway if you had a great day out there.

Posted - 03/01/2012 : 3:35:57 PM Back to the picture; I didn't know Bass Assassin made that grub in 12 in. size - - it's their new hot pattern, can't remember the name right now, all I've seen is the 4" size.

Posted - 02/29/2012 : 2:03:50 PM Thanks guys, we did see quite a few schools and they were large like when my Dad and I fished together when I was growing up. But don't take my word for it, you know someone who was born and raised here for the past 50 years, get out there and fish. God Bless

Posted - 02/29/2012 : 1:58:22 PM if it was 28" and "fat" your Boga is wrong. |

Posted - 02/29/2012 : 12:41:23 PM I think anyone saying a 28-29 inch trout weighs 8 lbs is exaggerating the weight. I caught the biggest trout of my life two season ago (biggest one I've ever seen), and it was around 28 inches. It was a fat female and it was only 5.75 lbs on the Boga. Can't imagine a similar length fish weight 2 lbs more. |

I, for one, appreciate the report and the pertinent information therein. I dont give 2 poops if you have photographic evidence or not, I am just happy to read that the trout still exist and that my fellow fishermen are successful and generous enough to share their method, approach, and lure information so that I might have a better shot at catching some myself.
For the rest of yall, there are plenty of places where you can play "who's got the biggest one" - if that's your thing. Rad, I will check in the AM to see your update on all of your reports with time + date stamped tournament quality 10 megapixel+ fish photos with clearly visible regulation measuring sticks, independently verified, signed, dated, and notarized pls.
Nice!!!! Thanks you!! Keep catching them Local Boy!

What whomever has in their hand is a 4 1/2 lb. trout. That is an awesome fish... but not 7-8 lbs.

Local Boy, what you've did is possible.
I targeted trout last Friday and Saturday between trips and caught half a dozen in less than 30 mins all over 17" largest at 23" both days. I've seen some really big trout over the past couple of weeks while scouting some areas around the harbor and cooper river. An 8lb trout isn't hard to believe from what I've seen on the water the last couple of weeks. One group I saw had at least 8 over 7lbs in it.
From what I can tell we're going to have a nice trout fishery this year. In hope's that I can land some more like this one this year and best the boats personal best.
