This is a stretch of Hwy. I-80 between Reno NV . and Sacramento Ca. called Donner Pass.
Not an accident but a "caused event." This scenario works on rain slicked roads just as well as ice or snow. Folks just won't slow down and/or think ahead. That driver may have even been on the cell phone talking or texting. This can happen anywhere.

Please, slow down and respect the bad weather....... the life you save, may be mine.

Turns out, this is a true story and video but it happened in Russia. Here's the snopes link telling about the accident. Only the driver's leg could be recovered.

That's a terrible accident. I lived in Colorado for awhile so I have a lot of first hand experience with driving on ice and snow. The biggest mistake people make is not using snow tires. They work better in all cold weather conditions because of the rubber formulation. There is a reason why people in snowy climates prefer Subaru, Audi and Toyota Land Cruisers, they have incredible AWD/Full-time 4wd systems.

That is one of the worst things i have ever seen. There is no way anyone lived through that.
