i don't care if they got their feelings hurt. that's the idea; you should be ashamed of giving up your dog, just b/c it doesn't fit into your lifestyle.

+100. The worst part about this guy is that he will have a new puppy in the next 1-2 years and when that dog grows up, he will dump that one on somebody else too.

I could not imagine giving up my dog to ANYONE, more or less, a shelter. And you are right. My dog is just like a child to us.

I've found that there are 2 types of pet owners in this world. One treats their pets like a kid and takes care of it. The other, treats them like property, that they own and use, until it gets old and then is discarded! I'm glad I'm the former!

Once you commit to a pet it should be for life.Never give anyone a Cat or Puppy. They grow up.My rescue dogs live like kings around here.I hate someone gets a dog and pens it outside.

What saddens me most is that while this is great o bring attention to the dog and it's need for a home.....look at all of the dogs/ cats etc. that there is no publicity for..and that don't get homes. Today it said there were 25 people on the waiting list for the dog if he did ok through the treatments and such...well it would be nice if the 24 who didn't get them would at least consider getting another dog there..... We got ROO . At the SPCA...best move we ever made...and I think joe just adopted one too. Sad to see the dogs and cats there..knowing that where once they were ohhhhsoooo cute and someone's pets...now they have no home.

Btw..on a happy note....heard on the radio today that Willie Nelson is adopting two of the horses that were taken from abusive owner in summerville and will send for them as soon as they are healthy enough to travel.

sounds like they had plenty of time to find that dog a home instead of just straight giving it to the rescue. Dog also had heart-worms that were not being treated.

Story is fishy and yes you guys are right the lady is now trying to play the victim.

I got a rescue last year from LLR and she was an owner surrender. We had no issues with LLR

Floater....That is how I felt. I would not even consider giving up a dog that I had for 8 years. We have a rescue Shepard, and he is the coolest dog we have ever owned. You are right about feeling like giving up a child. Labs don't live much past 12 on average, so to give up a dog in his "golden years" is sad.

Maybe if Obama did not give Egypt $1.5 billion this Country could care for people and animals they like.I do not like Egypt so why is He giving my money away? 1.5 Billion could help a lot of homeless around here.

Paul-They have a waiting list for the dog right now.
My wife and I helped foster with LLR in the past...and quit for the very reason of the attitude of Ms. Fabri and the other director of the rescue.
I understand the fact that the rescue will not take in 'owner surrenders' ...but it is the way they do it.
Very sad.
