Posted - 05/07/2012 : 10:45:00 AM New to the forum. I'm Rob. I wanted to introduce myself and see if I could get a little friendly advice. I've lived in Charleston about 2 years and enjoy going out fishing and crabbing with my 2 young children. I usually go to different piers or docks like Folly Pier, Briddle Bank, Waterfront, etc. I used to always use frozen bait, shrimp or squid, without much success. I have taken 2 charters (Capt. Richard is great) while here and had a great time and caught a lot of fish so I have tried to replicate what I did on the boat. I purchased a castnet and I'm able to catch some live bait, finger mullet or menheden usually, but it hasn't made a difference. I use a rattle float with about 18-24" of leader with a 1/0 circle hook and can't catch a fish. I guess I'm just asking what I can do different and where to try. So far my kids have become experts at catching bait in the bucket and haven't had a chance to catch a fish. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
