Thanks to everyone with the gear and advice I was finally able to get out their. Me and a buddy waded a flat on Thursday evening with my fly rod and his spinning gear. we got their later than intended but it was good. One guy called the police on us for tresspassing on "his" marsh, they never came. Other neighbor fly fished and Saud it was fine. I lost hurricanes crab fly then threw Iflys copper/black with shine sinking fly that's weedless( one of the proven fish getters) I had 3 solid hits on it and couldn't land One. My buddy had a good hit otf also and didn't hook him. My fish on the spinning rod hit when I was walking ans couldn't set the j hook. Didn't see any tailers so blind casting. Saw some grass move and shadows of fish. I think Tge water may have been 2 deep in that spot. If any of you guys saw 2 people wading within sight if a busy road on your way home it was probably us. Had a lot of fun and cant wait to do it again.
FYI SNAILS IN SHOES HURT!! I got home and pulled 23 out of both shoes!

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

wear some lace-up crocs. the snails fall out of the holes on the sides of the shoes.

The state owns the saltmarsh below the critical line, unless the property owner has a kings grant. As long as you don't trespass getting to the marsh you are fine...

Dang dude. Sounds like a great trip. Make sure you write down all the information about the trip (water temp, tide, time, bait resent or no, kind of bait present, number of fish, etc...). You will need it for reference, every year.

The snail thing is funny. Hard to tell which shoes are the best some times. Believe it or not, I have settled on the Charleston Dork shoes. I think they call them Docksiders. You can get them cheap just about everywhere. They dry out fast as crap. They actually seem to have a better (bigger, flatter) surface area for walking on mud. And they have the leather laces that can be cinched down to keep them on your feet and keep the snails out.

As for they guys that THINK they own the world (even the water in back of their houses) the best response is the camera phone. If the phone has video... even better. Make it VERY obvious you are filming them.

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
