Posted - 06/01/2012 : 8:24:20 PM Of course I get to the fishing place, late. Had to bag spot one for too much water and probably too much wind. Spot two was glass. Always nice to have a protected spot or two in the tackle box. But, still a bit more water than I wanted. Had to beach the boat 3/4 into the weeds and look for cruisers. Slow cruiser just under the surface and the fly a safe distance in front and in the path. Red fish lips it and says....'No thanks'. Fish is too close to the boat to cast so I roll the fly to it's side and he changes course. One more roll and the fish eyes the fly again and... 'no, thank you'. I get a small bit more aggressive and push a little water with the fly. It's ignored. I'm PO'd but cool and I flip it ahead of him and he goes nose-to-nose with the fly and.... nothing. Fish cruises off without spooking and the fly comes in and off the end of my fly rod as fast as I can get that piece of crap of my line. Fortunately, it was not one of my ties. Beautiful fly but.... worthless.
Quickly get one of my 'home-ties' tied on the end of my leader and.... Fish-on!
