I've been following this build on here and Facebook, the attention to detail is impressive. I never liked the classic Carolina lines on an inshore boat but, yours might change my mind. one thing I thought was odd though was the placement of the VHF and radio controls, seems like it would be tough to see the display.

Good job on the build fellas, I've enjoyed watching it come along.

I heart this thread. Great job on this project. Looking forward to seeing the sea-trial pics.
A suggestion (small one)...trailer guides with lights mounted up on top would be a good feature for future builds. Very helpful if not essential for some of the ramps in Charleston (strong tidal currents)

Well she is 99% done! Just lacking upholstery and teak on poling platform. Tomorrow she gets wet for the first time. The past few days have been 18 hour days, just wiring, plumbing, misc, misc, ect, ect. Tomorrow I will post some more pics of the details and inside of the hatches plus the bilge area. I will also show pics of our lighting combinations. All the hatches are lit and we also have numerous blue mood lights. We ran the engine tonight and everything worked great. I will also have some performance numbers for you.

Absolutely beautiful guys! You folks at X-celerator boat works seem to bring true craftmanship back to boatbuilding. Been a joy following this build and seeing the high attention to detail present.

mtiffee, we would love to build you one. Let us take you on a sea trial in a few weeks when we have the boat down in Charleston.

Sea trial was a success! Boat ran great and handled even better. Most comfortable and dry ride possible for a 17' boat in a descent chop in my opinion. Top speed 53 mph. draft at still was 8" exactly. I didn't get any shots from outside the boat today but I will soon. Only thing not finished is the upholstery. I have a few videos I will post once they download on you tube. I also didn't get the lighting photos but that was just because I had to get home and mow the grass before it got dark. I will post more soon.

She's bad!

For a boat that does 53MPH, you might want to think about a locking push pole holder?

Here are a few videos. I will have a better video of the boat flying across the water Tuesday when I get a camera man out there with me that can stand and video tape from a dock.

Here are a couple more videos. A few from a dock and one longer one from the captains seat. Def. not professional video footage but should have some better stuff after next weekends trip to Charleston.

I can't remember if anyone has asked, but why the Zuke? Buyers choice I would assume but it seems like there are better options? Educate me please!

You are right, buyers choice. Let me ask you though, why not. People always talk about outboard preference but when you get real technical with people about the ins and outs of one brand verse the other they usually dont have a clue what the differences are other than the logo and other peoples opinions. Im not saying you dont no good or bad about one brand or another but I would be interested on your thoughts thinking the Suzuki is a less than desirable engine, especially in the 4 stroke class. Thanks for the interest.

As far as MSRP, it isn't exactly a retail product and doesn't work like that. Give me a call and I will give you much more detail. Thanks!

My Suzuki DF140 has been nothing but a pleasure to own. It's simply been the best engine for simplicity, ease of maintenance, stability, quiet, smooth and best of all, reliable. I've NEVER had a problem cranking it in any weather. Only issue I've ever had is when I put a little too much oil in it. If I were to buy a boat tomorrow, I'd try to find a way to move this engine to that boat.

Congratulations jki. That is fine work.

Very impressive work and attention to detail! Would you happen to have a picture of the hardware holding the console to the deck?

Also, did either you or your buddy happen to do any boat building at a shop off of Dorchester Rd. in North Charleston? I rented out part of a building in this little complex, and one of the other guys there was into boat building/resto. I think he would be a little older than you guys by now though -- I can't remember his name, but he split rent with a guy named Doug that did a lot of boat restorations. I just remember seeing the jig in the shop, and Doug said that it was the other guy's build.

I'm a big fan of Suzuki's lower gear ratio/larger diameter prop approach. More grip on the water is great for the hole shot and allows you to trim the boat more with the engine.

I am exactly that person that has no clue other than the sticker and other people's opinion. Honesty for me it just doesn't look good on the boat. Beautiful boath though!

Not to change the topic but your correct about prop dia .....the 16" dia ones on the 175's made a major, major difference during docking and hole shot when I repowered

Another question I forgot to ask in my reply above -- how did you choose to attach the deck to the support structure? Did you sandwich wetted mat or use some kind of permanent adhesive/sealant, such as 5200?

Thanks,

Bryson
