Anyone doing any good?

I am looking for a place to take my son fishing over the Christmas break. Anyone care to share a couple of areas to try? I know people catch trout around the swing bridge and near the lighthouse. Just never been successful at catching fish on the waterway.

I am not looking for any particular place, just wondering where to start and how far off the bank. Troll or cast.

Thanks.

Goob, been awhile since I trout fished but we always did good inside the harbor between the docks slow trolling jigs and also the long oyster bar right before you get to the Calabash river usually produced fish, especially on a rising tide.We usually trolled jigs about 25' off the bar along the entire lenght.Hope you and your son do well,my son is 18 now and his current interests don't include fishing with the old man!

Thanks Billymac,
I grew up fishing, anytime someone said lets go, I was in the boat. It is in my blood. My son (8), on the other hand, gets bored easy. I am hoping that as he gets a little older, he will learn to love it too.
