I'd start in mid to late Feb. if the weather continues to be warm. I believe that they enter the rivers when the water temperature reaches 55f or there about. There may be some there now, so give it a go and report back.

Did somebody say shad? Keep your ear to the ground and your eyes on the thermometer and hope the water keeps running. If you flow it, they will come.

Does anyone know if boat rentals are available in the Moncks Corner/ N. Charleston area? I'd like to be able to rent a jon boat to fish for shad in the tailrace instead of trailering my rig up there.

I have caught shad in the rivers before using a johnson silver spoon with a red bead in fromt of the spoon. the best way to catch shad in ib behind a damm, the fish can't go up river anymore and fish the deep side you can catch them.

Try Wilsons Landing. Its behind the santee dam. You can catch them from the bank there.
