Fixing to make a purchase of a new trolling motor and kinda up in ends about what to get. Opinions?.....serious thinking about getting one w/transducer built in to match the new HDS gen2 I am getting ina. Couple weeks. Should I go with Minn kota or motor guide. Its gotta be wireless and have some sort of auto/co pilot....thanks....

Just bought a new MK80! Mounts on outboard motor! Have been using one for years, but the shaft broke last month! Was forced to use the bow mount till I received new motor! Forgot how much easer it is to use the steering wheel from the console then to crawl to the bow and relese the motor down , run to stern to deploy plainer boards, run to bow turn on motor and steer, run back to set hook and fight fish, ect.
Think about it! Only draw back is it does not turn as tight!I have it on a 20 glasmaster trihull with step thru windsheld with 250 E tec, very heavy boat!Worked great yesterday in all that wind chaseing breaking fish!

Lol I guess I forgot to say what boat I was putting it on. Most people on here that know me know I love my Jon boat so bow mount is what I use. Minus the outboard my electronics will be worth more than the boat. I will be getting a 55# thrust probably 55/54"shaft. I have just worked so hard using a cable steer fishing for so long I am tired of it doing just what u say running back and forth to motors and poles. Buying this stuff now and one day will upgrade the boat.

If you ever fish on a boat with the Ipilot you would never want anything else. I have the powerdrive 2 with autopilot and it is ok. But the spot lock on the Ipilot is great. it will hold you right over a school of striper or over cover for crappie. Even in wind.

I-Pilot all the way! I've been a MG user for years and they are having their butts handed to them by I-Pilot. Saving up for an MK now.

so Terrova or PD2.....after reading site after site i am trying to figure out if you can or cannot have a pedal and Ipilot on the PD2. i know the older PD's cannot use a pedal after the aftermarket ipilot is installed BUT do the new PD's come with both?.....probably will never need the footpedal but you never know...trying to justify the extra 3/400$ for the terrova, if not gotta go PD...but will take some advice and make some phone calls on pricing first anyway....

You have to go Terrova if you want a foot control. Cabelas has a pretty good deal on the V2's right now. 55# for $899. You may want to check out the crappie hole in chapin too. I heard they have good prices on them and sometimes have factory refurbished at good discounts. But the warranty is only 1 year on the refurbished. I can't remember where I saw it, maybe crappie.com. But there was a guy making some kind of box that would allow you to use a foot control with a V2. Some kind of switch. the thing nice about foot control is it gives you an infinite number of speed settings where the I-pilot controller gives you 20.

just bought one of the new Terrova 80 with I pilot. Picked it up from BPS and installed Sunday. The new ones have auto pilot, advanced auto pilot, cruise control, and will store up to 5 spotlocks and 5 seperate tracks. Took it out striper fishing on Murray and using the auto pilot with cruise control it was a breeze. Definitely two thumbs up!

do ya'll think getting the one with the transducer in the foot is really worth it? any of yall ever used one? does it cause problems with the regular transducer (multiple sonar reflecting off each other) or does it only send out when plugged in to the unit? i found a great deal for 800 bucks where as if i go to bass pro i gotta pay a over 900. but the cheaper one doesn't have the transducer.......gotta decide soon my 15yr old motor guide cable steer just went kablooie on sunday.

For striper fishing the auto pilot is the only way to go. Skip the foot pedal and just go with the remote. It is the only way to go.
