Maybe he's the answer, and I sincerely hope he is, because I cannot stand seeing a Clemson team that plays defense the way they have over the last 5 to 10 years. I'll remain pessimistic until I see a change on that side of the ball. Pretty sure I'm not alone either.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

FYI- Mark never coached at OU.

I don't see how this is a "bad" move. He has to be an upgrade over Steele. I honestly think even a merely "pretty good" defensive coordinator will bring a lot more success to that team.

That said, if they don't get their S&C on par with the rest of the contenders, no DC will be able to do much.

Improvement, hell yeah its and improvement. A vacant spot on the sidelines would have been an improvement over Tinfoil. I'm sure he'll be a good coach but I'm skeptical of it being the homerun hire that Blueline thinks it will be. I honestly hope that next season BL is sending me crow to eat on a weekly basis too. I can honestly say that Clemson's defense just hasn't looked very good for the last 5 - 10 years and all of us fans are ready to see a change in philosophy and a hard nosed approach to it.

Yeah, S&C needs to pick up some but no defense that stays on the field like they did due to awful fundamentals and poor scheme is going to stay fresh an entire game. It all goes hand in hand and hopefully this major change will bleed into other areas.
