Does anyone know if the little saluda is muddy. I'm taking the kids out in the morning and was going launch at Camp Barstow. If it's too muddy up there I would rather launch at #3 or #4.

i was up there sunday and it was fine and that was after all that rain we got the day before. i have notice the lil saluda doesn't get as muddy as the big does. But if you go way back in the creeks i.e. clouds or indian it is muddy but as far as the main runs and mouths they were fine.

I was there Tuesday and it was fine. I think I'm going to try Buffalo Creek tomorrow.

We just below the river split and got two keepers and 4 shorts. We only fished for about 2 hours. Went back at night and got 3 more keepers and about 10 shorts.

Fished below the forks and got 12 shorts and 3 keepers. Flies and flukes with jigheads. Had to anchor b/c of wind.

yeah, the wind was a pain. I used to always go find a protected area when the wind was blowing and not catch a thing. Now I just fish right where I would without wind and I do a lot better. But I do hate fighting gusty wind with the trolling motor. I wonder how the spot lock would do in that kind of wind.

Not trying to highjack here, but was on the dam Sunday and saw alot of bird action about 300 yards from the towers. They were obviously feeding on a large school of bait. Isn't it a little early for them to be this far down? I am new to the striper world and just thought that was early.

Normally it is, but the water down there is 55*, I read surface temps as high as 59* a week ago. It is 48 on the upper lake. I think some of the fish have moved back down. There are plenty of fish up top too. Seems like this will be a good year
