Couldn't find it on the link, but a bluecat was caught on a troline on the 8th that was weighted by the DNR on the afternoon of the 9th...it weighed 136 lbs and 6 oz. Could have weighed more on the previous day. Pretty cool to know what some of those line stripping monsters really weigh! and that the system can produce fish of this size! Too bad the fish wasn't angled with rod and reel and that it was not released alive. Hope to see some more in this size range this spring!!!!

Breyn119! There is no restriction on eating Blue Catfish on the Lake system with the exception of the Rederversion Canal and they say only eat it 1 time a week! This comes from the 2011 South Carolina Fish Consumption Advisories, page 25.

Easy,
I'm not saying there are, or should be, any consumption restrictions on the Santee system. All I'm saying is that an animal of that age has eaten a TON of other smaller creatures over the years. Bio-Accumulation at its best...

The latest news - DNR biologists got the otolith bones from the fish head and have mounted and aged the bones....get this the fish was only 23 yrs old.
