We've got some theives out at camp and want to catch them on a game cam. Been reading about the new cams with "black LEDs", that supposedly can't be seen by man or beast. Any recommendations?
These will be left for probably a week at a time. Need to trigger day or night. Will be in the country with no unauthorized people around. Hoping to get a license plate, or at least car/truck model.
Thanks in advance.

had my cam stolen last year, looked at some theft resistant boxes and made my own version. Never under estimate a theif, no matter how well you think something is hidden there is still a chance they could see it. Put it high up in a tree angled down if you cant secure it down low.

That is an awesome homemade box...
I use a camera sparingly. Maybe a couple weeks prior to deer season, then remove before opening day.
If you are trying to catch trespassers, place up high out of arms reach...put some camo cloth around it, if the strap and camera are not camo already.

Went yesterday to check cameras and both were gone. I guess there are a lot of d'bags around. My thoughts are coon hunters that are tresspassing.

I'll be "hiding" these cams as best I can. I'm looking to catch thieves trespassing, not stealing my cams. :-)
Out in the country, they have all day to hacksaw locks, etc., without detection, so cam boxes won't work unless they are extraordinary. I'll strategically camouflage a few cams, so if they do find one, hopefully the others will catch them if they do steal one. That is why I need "invisible flash" cameras.

if its that big of a problem invest in one that will send the pics to your email as they are taken. may be a bit pricey but heck some are cheaper than cuddies etc. keep on thinking of buying them myself but havent had a thief yet.. soon as somethiing gets stolen i will buy one. would love to post flyers of the thief all over nearby gas stations etc. would def. be worth the $300 or so

| I have successfully used the standard infrared cams to catch trespassing vehicles...I just take an extension ladder and put the cam about 12-14ft up a tree and angle it down. Certainly one of the "black out" infrareds that sends pics right to your email would be best, but this was just a way I used one of my existing cams to catch tresspassing. G'luck! |
