Went fishing with one of cf.com's more notorious oldies and we had quite a day. Estimated (conservatively) that we hooked, fought and brought to the boat at least 50 shad in a little over 3 hours. Caught a few on an ultralight spinning setup and then switched over to my 6wt Winston with a Rio Striper line. Thanks to Scotty over at Lowcountry for the flies. Added shad to my catch list, stopped by Sellsfish and picked up some tuna steaks and scallops, ate dinner with capnsandbar and Lisa at The Glass Onion, met jipride (the owner) and home to the upstate all in one day. Right shoulder is still a little sore...
Can't wait for some summer!

Great job! What setup are you using? I'm planning a shad fishing trip for next week in Georgia. Iv'e never tried fishing for shad. My options for the fly rod are my 9 wt. throwing Teeny TS 350 line or my 5 wt. with a sink tip on a floating line. How should I proceed?
