Hey guys, I was hoping for some pointers on some good "general" spots. I'm 14, and my buddies and I have always just fished ellis creek by the yacht club year round, and caught some monster reds, flounder, and even some good trout. The last few months, it's been totally dead! I'm dying to find another good spot near the ji yacht club. Any tips on general spots/tackle/bait? Any help is appreciated!

Every day is a good day for fishing!

Thanks for the help, I'll check it out asap. I'm so anxious to land a nice red, it's been months.

Try around the fort also. The current has to be moving and it is protected on the inside if you are fishing from a small boat. Mud minnows between the pilings at the tour boat dock works for reds, trout, and flounder...also ladyfish, blues, whiting and sharks. My wife caught her first shark there...a 4' bonnethead on 12 lb. test. She was stoked until we got it close to the boat! Good luck.

you've got a private message

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

Aint no fish around the yacht club, and I have never launched from sunset park in the kayak and found large schools of reds. Fort Sumter doesn't hold fish, never caught fish around the docks, off the DNR, JI creek, or Ellis Creek. Castle Pickney doesn't hold fish either. Thats a real tough spot to launch from and find fish every single day.

Thanks for the pointers, and I'll check out the pilings by the touring boat dock. Has anyone checked out wild dunes lately? I fished it a little last spring and caught some reds in the high 30s and also some nice slot reds. Lmk

split shot and hook is all you need at Ft Johnson...otherwise you'll lose a lot of tackle
