Has anyone fished these rods? I am going to try out surf fishing, finally, this summer. The wife and kids are always wanting to take me to the beach but I get bored easily. So, with that being said, I am on the prowl for a surf combo.

For the reel you get what you paid for. On the Rod, I was unaware that TFO was making surf rods, but if it's as good as there fly rods, you can't go wrong

| I got a TFO 7'3" rod from the same line as the surf rod you are talking about and love it so far. I did a little research on the surf rod, lots of stiper guys further north of us have been talking about them and seem to like them. The only negative comment I saw was that the tip wasn't sealed and would allow water to get into the rod. |

thanks guys. I may just try out a Penn rod with a Penn Fierce for a $100 first, just to see if surf fishing will for me.

You're not even in Charleston! I'm second in line. On second thought... I'm not in Charleston either...
Just kidding F&G, I've been looking at picking up two surf rods as well. I'm a big fan of Star Stellar Lites and looked at the 9 foot Surf rods and was pretty happy with what I saw. I like the Stars for the same reason people like TFOs, they make fishing rods, just fishing rods, only fishing rods, nothing more than fishing rods and they're (**() good at it. They may have been bought out by a big company but they're still pretty dang good rods.

Thanks Chris. I still have two Star rods from about 20 years ago that are , in my opinion, the best that Star ever put out. The have been great. i'll look into those.
