If you don't find a used one, you might want to check out the heavy duty garden wagons at Lowes or WallyWorld. Bungee several rod holders to it and you are good to go. We got one several years ago to use in the yard and on the beach and it works great. Big tires and sealed bearings make it nice on the beach and it will hold rods, chairs, cooler and tackle. You just have to remember to really hose it off well when you get home. I believe we got it on sale for about $60. Bearing Distributors carries the replacement bearings.
...just a thought.

I paid $100 for my garden cart and been running well or 2 years got it at Lowes, big tires travels well on all surfaces, has rusted a little bit

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I used a wagon from harbor freight for years and paid $40, mounted some pvc pipes on the side for rod holders.

Ditto on the garden cart. My dad bought me a brand name $100 cart its small and it has plastic wheels. If you get a garden cart its cheaper has more capacity and big rubber wheels are great for the sand. Highly recommend the garden cart over the brand name expensive carts.

I have used hand trucks/dollys before...bungee your coolers and everything to it along with the rods and tilt it back and go. not as nice as a garden cart but most people have a hand truck laying around versus buying a cart for a once a year trip.. just an idea...

Pay close attention to the bungy tip. I know from experience that is fantastic advice

I bought a hand me down cart for a 100 last summer and it has treated me well

Made one from old cooler, two old lawnmower tires, and some PVC. Works good but cart would be faster to modify.

Thanks for all the tips. Doesn't look like we'll have room this trip to pack it. Got 7 riding in Suburban so rods are already gonna have to be strapped to top.

You might want to consider adding a carrier to your trailer hitch to carry the wagon. They are similar to what folks use to carry wheelchairs and just plug into your hitch receiver. I just usually stick mine in the back of the Jeep but barely have room for all the other beach stuff and only room for 2 to ride. It would be nice to have a carrier for the wagon and plan to look around for a used one.

since Pfluger Reelman isn't going to need one, just wanted to mention that I'm looking for a large sized pier cart. I'm not looking for a wagon or any of the above mentioned alternatives. If anyone has one, shoot me a message plz.

Thanks

Funny you mention that, I was looking into buying one for this reason and to take trash cans to dump cuz in a clean freak when it comes to a $50000 vehicle and hate putting them in back where when I looked in a storage shed on the property I'm renting from friends til we get our lake house built there was one. Might have to use it a bit.

Thx Sharkey. I may just buy a new one soon so I'll have more time to do things like set it up and nag you about an axle, sides, and a bottom ;)

I bought a large one from Hardells a few yrs ago - enjoy it but if I had to do over I would buy the smaller size - it is amazing how much stuff you can load onto one - the smaller size would be fine, fit into vehicles better and eazier to pull through sand when loaded.

I haven't used the smaller one, but I managed to pick up the large sized one on craigslist for like 75$...it has served me well.

I welded a piece of 2"ID to the bottom of a Lowe's garden cart and use a piece of 2"OD tube to go between the cart and my receiver. With the cart mounted upside down on the receiver the cooler sits right between the wheels and the rodholders fold flat with the help of a bungee cord. The one in the pictures is bigger than the one I'm now using but they're built the same.

I'd rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

leemajors,

Can you please SUBSTANTIATE that? I'd love to know where to find the largest model available for that price. I've seen smaller models selling for that price new, at Charleston Angler, and that's how I came up with my price: so that somebody would see value in it as it is the full-size model. And I've established that I'd take Best Offer, if you know what OBO means. I'll be looking forward to your link to the cart JUST LIKE THIS for $225.

Get a life.

Here ya go, it's not $225.00, but it's close.

http://www.cpidesigns.com/carts/pccart.html

$229.50 BRAND NEW! Shipping & handling is about $40.00, so it's $269.50. It even comes with a cutting board & bait basket.

Now, you get a life!

Edited to ask: I realize you are basing your asking price(for an apparently used cart) on a "new" smaller version from the Charleston Angler, but how much did you pay for it?

Thanks, Happy Bob!
Seriously- while humbling, your intelligent response is appreciated. I traded the cart for several Penn spinning reels I'd refurbished a while back. With the info you provided me, I'll be adjusting the asking price to $200 firm. Thanks again!

I'm just saying, you're on here peddling your used cart without knowing anything about it.

Don't be mad because you egregiously overpriced or because I know more about your own possessions than you do.
