Thinking about pulling the trigger on one. Fished 8 and 9 wt xi 2's that belong to friends a good bit. My favorite rod ever and thinking that is what I want. What other rod's should I look at?

sage are nice but not very good customer service. Look at tfo bvk. 240$ and great customer service.

Go cast a bunch of different brands, and then specific models within those brands. Pick what works best with your casting stroke. What's a great rod for me may not work for you at all.

the new 9'6" sage one is a pretty killer 7wt, hardy also makes a really nice 7wt, tfo discontinued the recoil guides on the bvk which was a pretty nice feature but still a good rod also

2nd tfo's customer service, means a lot when your rod breaks, it will be back in your hands before you know it. Try the TiCr X when your trying out rods, feels pretty good to me.

i made this up but i think it's true

The TFO BVK is a pretty awesome rod. Especially for the money. A buddy of mine from Kentucky let me use his and I was impressed with it.
If you have a lot of money to spend then look at Sage, G Loomis GLX or the new NRX, which I have not fished.

I've got a 7wt Guide series Beulah that I made from a blank that I am really digging right now. It's a west coast rod company. Give them a look over.

I bought a 7 wt. Sage Flight a little less than ea year ago. I fish with it all the time, other than when I'm using really heavy flies or its pretty windy.
