On Friday my dad and I had chartered a trip with Capt. Jon "Gumbo" Deloach of Polecat charters. He worked hard and we caught 4 fish, two over the slot and two in the slot. We fished Calibogue and Pinckney Island and caught them on a gold spoon and cut bait. Actually my dad had the hot hand and caught them all. I used to fish Winyah Bay alot and knew it well, down here my success rate stinks. Capt. Gumbo taught me alot about the local area so my dad and I tried it Saturday and today in my boat. We tried Rose Island Flats today and Hazzard Creek on Saturday. No luck either day but what Capt. Gumbo showed me at least helped me look for the right places. Finding the fish is the hardest part. Still, my dad and I had a great time and I can't wait to take him again.
