Let me begin by saying if I am out of line with this post, someone say so and I'll make it go away. I have seen folks post stuff on here that they make and sell so I hope that my posting is okay.
I turn wood for fun and one of the things I make is pens. I have been playing around with some designs and recently made a couple using .308 cartridges and deer antler. I am not in the "business" of making/selling pens, I really just do it for fun and to help pay for my hobbies. Anyway, if anyone is interested in such a pen or another pen, let me know. In addition to the bullet pen, I do any kind of wood as well as all antler, though my antler supply is limited right now. Also, if you happen to have a piece of wood that is special to you (from a tree in your yard or whatever), I can make a pen out of that. Below are some examples of my work.

| Oh yes, and I polish it starting with a 400 grit sandpaper and go all the way up to 12,000. There is no wax or other finihes on those antler pens, just elbow grease. |

Dfreedom...those are awesome! And being a long time member here I'm sure that when Andy see's them he won't mind and will like them too! Psssst...maybe sending him one as a "hey thank you" would make him like them even more. ;) lol. Love the deer antler one for sure! Can you make one out of a crab claw??.....well never mind. ;). Wonderful talent you have there. It's amazing what talents so many members of this site have. Maybe we should open us a little lunch and "look see " store!

| I have used regular lathes a good bit with my work over years and wanted to get a pen lathe and never did. Those are sweet! Have you ever made a blank for a fountain pen? |

Thanks Penny. I have not worked with crab claws yet, I'll have to look into that. Sending Andy a pen is a good idea!
BGF, you can turn a pen on any lathe as long as you have the proper accessories, chuck, mandrel, etc.. As for turning a blank for a fountain pen, there are many different kits and different bushings (based on diameter) for each kit. There are kits for fountain pens though I have not turned one. |

I sure miss working on a wood lathe in High School, when I get more room, I plan on purchasing one
