So what's the deal now, is it a free for all here when it comes to advertising and plugging ones own company?? Seems to be a lot of it going on without any actual sponsorship of the sight.

I can see this going many ways. If someone (not a business) makes something and wants to show it off and sell/trade then I dont see a problem with it. If it is a business then I think there should be some type of advertising. It would be about like showing someone online your handy work and they like it and asks "how much to do the same for me?" You have just advertised for free. Double edge sword if you ask me. But this website does have a classified section for "free" no Sponsorship.

I am plugging my own business as a grammar teacher. First lesson is free. Site, not sight. Thanks. Also, Andy appreciates you doing his job of policing the site for people trying to get over on him. As a paying sponsor, I know I find these (**() Off Topic free promotions hurtful to my big flashy blinking box on the main page... I guess I got what I paid for?

I don't have a problem with the college kids that come on here and "advertise" their boat detail service. Most of them don't put it in the offshore or inshore reports section. The guy I used last year posted in the Boats and Motors section. I was OK with that and very pleased with how my boat looked and the value of this kids service.

Incorporated businesses advertising a particular product or service should be required to pay Andy.

Agree. We've had a few instances of some pretty severe SPAM in several sections. I was tempted to invoke a LightFighter-type correction, but if it's OK with Andy, really not my place.

I advertise my business in my sig line and at the end of my videos. When I put up videos they're for folks enjoyment as a video fishing report or a fishing / rigging tip.

If Andy tell me to stop, I'll stop.

Hey Russ, if you are talking about me being the latest poster, all Andy has to do is say the word, I'll apologize and say no more. Not being thin-skinned here, the last thing I want to do is step on any toes or take advantage of anyone. I have learned so much and made too many friends to jeopardize it for a few $. Andy??

PS: Andy, if you will PM me your address, I will gladly send you a pen
whether it is okay for me to keep my post up or not.

Thanks

No No no, not whatsoever telking bout you DF, didn't even notice, But Watch It!! :)

Just seems a lot of Business's use the site for free without acknowledging the costs and efforts put out by the owners of the site. The occasional usage of it for items one might have made and such seems to be within reason same goes for folks offering services once in a while, but agreed, not for full time business's espicially when that is the only contribution they make to the site.

Too Busy, you allways post a wealth of great information on kayak fishing and rigging and tips and what not, Definitly a worthy contributor of information to the site!

That's cool Russ. I actually debated for several days before I posted because I just didn't want to do the wrong thing.

DFreedom,

I wasn't referring to you either. A few days (or weeks, they all blend into one), someone specifically had a SPAM add posted on several report sections of the forum. Blatant SPAM, unpaid advertising. You, Too Busy, etc., consistently post useful fishing REPORTS that we all can use to help us catch fish.

No problem. Though I would take issue with your assertion that I actually post useful fishing reports.....Ha Ha.
