| For one, this war is probably going to create more future terrorists than it will stop... Secondly, if that guy doesn't get convicted and face a pretty harsh sentence, it won't be good for our "relations". Imagine the uproar there if he get's off the hook on the grounds of some medical insanity plea or something. The US had better make a pretty good example of him. |

I was thinking something along those lines. If the roles were reversed what would happen? If one of them went house to house over here and killed 16 civilians some women and children what would be our stance? He would be called a terrorist. He would be tried here in America. One of ours did the same thing that we are fighting against.
I am not trying to bash our military. I served in the Marine Corps. I was deployed with a special purpose MAGTAF to Haiti. I know some of what these guys are going through. We need to bring them home. |

Yes, lets make an example of a soldier with a traumatic brain injury who shouldn't have even been there in the first place but was cleared by Army doctors. How about those Afgan's that murdered US soldiers over burning their desecrated books. Piss on that entire country, its worthless dirt. You cannot appease or give justice to a bunch of men who would just as soon F a goat as their wives.

Go by the laws of the land and hang him. We'll waste a million dollars studying why he did it and then we will still have to pay for his incarceration costs.
If we did hang him, we might gain a little respect back from the Afghans. Idiot sure did a number on gaining support from the locals, I can only imagine the hate that the victims families feel for Americans now. We just need to pull out.

The young men and women in our military are put through allot. Most people cannot begin to comprehend the things that they witness. If I understand correctly this same unit last year had 9 suicides the year before there were 12. We are not doing our service men and women right by sending them over there time and time again. We need to bring our troops home from the Middle East.
The soldier in question should be held accountable for his actions. I also think that there are a few in his chain of command that need to answer a few questions. |

IMO the mindset that we can go over there and purposely slaughter women and children is the reason why the people over there hate us. If we do that what makes us any different than Bin Laden?
All this while we invite the UN to review the legality of the way that we hold elections?
We have a POTUS that people take his picture and put it on the American flag replacing the stars.
What is becoming of this country?

We're now in our 12th year in Afghanistan. Our national interests are not being served there, though our initial involvement to disrupt the AQ training campes and Taliban was correct and useful.
They don't like us there and they won't like us if we leave (not that being "liked" is our national interest, but you get the point). So, since the result is the same, we need to save our blood and our money and leave Afghanistan to the Afghans. And stay vigilant for future terrorist training there and other places.

| Adress them in front of the "United" Nations. Tell them we are pulling out along with financial aid. Make sure they have to acknowledge, in front of the world, that if we have to come back to clean up like twelve years ago it will be beyond comprehension. |

Nope, not condoning what the man did at all. I support the American Soldiers who fight and die for dipschitts like you to have the right to publicly excoriate, denegrate and call for their execution under the flag of freedom. The man should have never been there in the first place. He had served his country with distinction on multiple tours of duty and recieved wounds the should have precluded him from active duty in a combat zone. He's watched his buddies die, be mutilated, and murdered by people he was trying to protect and give a hope of freedom. He snapped and murdered some people, it happens in war, all wars.

As noted, this fella suffered severe brain trauma, and was then screwed over by his government allowing him to go back into war that placed him into his mental state. He has been completely rewired, and I promise you, he never signed up for the mind raping he got being over there. If you have never had to watch a buddy die, or had a dear friend die in your arms, or had to escort a fella service member home in a casket and then explain to his mama why he isn't ever gonna be home for Sunday dinner again, then this is all lost on you. I do not condone what he did. And we will never understand what was going on in his head. But to say that you will hang him without even the offer of some mental health evaluations is unAmerican. |

Close minded? Close minded would be trying this guy based on media reports and calling for his execution to pay for what he did. You want to execute a soldier that has a brain injury who served no less than three tours of duty in a combat zone and was sent back for a fourth because he was deemed fit for duty. I know, we can just chalk him up as another KIA death and just finish off destroying his family and the lives of the kids that he'll leave behind.

You know what, you're right, the Afghani's didn't invite us to come invade their country at all. They only gave safe harbor and areas to train, plan and stockpile weapons to commit acts of terrorism, most specifically, 911. There is no need for a mental health evaluation, He's over the edge and if we need a brain doctor to tell us that then we are indeed dumb. You could talk with my V.A. doctors and a couple would tell you I'm unstable, but if I ever took the life of innocent women and children then I would hope you would put a bullet in my brain. This soldier did not just happen to kill women and children. He hunted them down in their homes, purposely killing them. There is a difference between this and collateral damage. Would we be sympathetic about this if he had lost it on base housing?
I think that we all support our troops. Right is right wrong is wrong.
I think that we can all agree that we need to bring them home. We have been fighting these wars for way to long and it is taking a tole on our Military.
