My son and I headed down to Charleston today to check out some yaks. DolphinD was nice enough to hook us up with a Ride 115 and a 135. We paddled out of Shem Creek all the way around Crab Bank and back, trading off boats about half way. I went to Charleston thinking I would get the 115 just because it was a bit smaller/lighter but, after paddling both, decided on the 135. My son and I both felt that the 135 paddled better than the 115 and that the extra room was nice to have. Anyway, many thanks to Dave for taking care of us today (this is where I insert the joke about a new 135 for $400 but I won't do that to Dave).

I have to put a couple of rod holders on it and ultimately think I would like a rudder and some accessories on the rails but, most importantly, I gotta get it out and get it slimed. Unfortunately my first chance won't be until our trip to the Keys on April 1st. Not a bad way to break in a new yak.

Thanks again Dave!

Good yak choice. Post up pics when you get the first slime!
Get a couple of set of mighty mounts from Yak Attack, for use with a Scotty rod holder, cheaper that the WS mounts from what I'm told. Very good quality. They work very nicely on the tracks.

Nice, I bought a slightly used 2010 ride 135 back in August and just put it in the ocean today! The storage in it is great, I can fit my cart in the front hatch area, hooked up a no drill anchor trolley system, and have a milk crate for easy access. Going to be practicing throwing a cast net and standing in it tomorrow.

Basically prepping it for our yearly trip to Florida.

I have to say im really excited about owning the ride 135......within minutes of launching from paradise island landing i was standing in it......i decided to check out the stability of the ride 135 so i did a daring move and i moved my feet as far apart as i could while standing and then i stood on one foot as far the edge as i could get and kinda hopped slightly .......well i didnt take a swim......the ride 135 is that stable!!! i will say its true this thing does not turn as easy as my perception (tarpon 120) and i knew from the get go that is wouldnt....i am extremely happy with the ride 135 and i would highly recommend it!!!! Thank you Toobusy!!! It was great meeting yall

The 135 I tested had a rudder. That helped turning a good bit and it was nice to be able to steer while just coasting along. I'll have to add that later, my budget was tapped out.

Yeah that would have been nice while I was drifting today, but I managed. I was definitely doing better than the 6 people who were in the Carolina skiff...that wrapped a line around the prop! Managed 18 trout today, all on electric chicken grub or paddle tail....one on a DOA.

I did stand in it a couple of times, but I need a longer paddle. Being 6'5 I have a higher center of balance, so bending over to paddle doesn't help much...
