For about 6 months now all my son has wanted for his birthday was to go offshore fishing. I continually told him March is a little early, the weather changes, ect, but apparently he is living right.
We pushed off around 6:15 to very nice conditions in the creek. Hit the beach to a little confused sea, but no wind so everything was fine. From reports I have heard fish are chomping way north and was south of me so we heading for the ledge. Stopped short a little after 8 and first line in gets a nice dolphin, which hit the planer rod (with a trolling weight). The pressure is now off and we head for the ledge. Once there the activity was non-stop for a while. Ajs were smacking our top water baits, bonita were coming through in groups, and wahoo and dolphin were joining in as well.
Finished the day with 2 wahoo (1 40 lbs on scale), 5 dolphin, 12 AJs, and 5 Bonita/whatever your name is for almostatuna. Lost some big fish, so I must assume wahoo and a couple probably were, judging from the line leaving the reel.
Thanks to Atlantic Game for the planer bridle rigs, that is what brought our big fish to the boat. The best part of that is the boys reeled it in on the 50 wide.
Smooth ride home and we stopped in 90 feet to give the boys a chance on the jig. Caught some monster sea bass, which they constantly asked why they could not keep because they are like flies, and even a big trigger fish.

Nice Day guys. Nothing like sons and fathers fishing together carrying on the tradition. Can't wait to get out myself.

The colors of the fish and hat are really cool in this picture.
Speaking of hat you need to get that boy one! I will put an "All Rise" hat in the mail for him Monday.

Well, where should I start, no life jackets for the Children,no Buffs for the children, and the Bean Bags do not match the bote.

Don't worry about dinner time......he has matching bean bags for his boat too :) |
