I come from the mountains of NC and spent my entire life thowing a five weight. Just picked up an eight weight for down here, but lack the skinny boat to reach em. Does anybody fish flies in deeper water around here. Thanks for any help!

Hey Reybann. I fish a 5 wt fly rod too, and only for trout. I lived on the Blackfoot river just outside of Missoula for several years (referring to your Norman McClean quote. You might try posting in the Fly Fishing forum.

Many go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
