I am thinking hard about getting one of the new Hero 2 GoPro cameras. Am I correct that the only real difference in the outdoor, motorsports, surf ect are the attachments it comes with? I will mainly use it for inshore fishing, turkey and deer hunting. You guys think I should get the outdoor? Any other must have attachments. Any and all advise is appreciated. And does it zoom at all? If not i assume its best for up close action? Thanks guys!

Ok so I found a few answers, no zoom and the attachments are the only difference. Anyone who has one let me know how you feel about your purchase. Now I am kind of wondering what I will do with all this video once i shoot it.

The more I read the better I think the would be for jumping out a plane and not hunting and fishing. Still undecided.

Stretch Armstrong has one. Shoot him a pm and see what he says. From what I've heard he likes it pretty much.

It's awesome, I bought one from a friend who had never used it for a steal, so I didnt feel the pain of shelling out the money to get one. I use it on my sailboats and also when I go fishing and hunting. It takes awesome video clips and pictures and don't regret buying for a second. In my opinion, if you go outdoors on a regular basis and have the wits to understand how to use them to their full potential it is definitely something that is well worth the money.

Don't see where the 2 version is much better than the first unless you will be watching your stuff on an hd tv. Internet sharing and even processing and editing video is hard enough with raw footage from the normal go pro. File size from the gro2 will be even more ridiculous to try and deal with to put on the web....
The regular go pro I have is by far worth the money. Things you can do with them and the resulting footage are awesome

Mine is the older version of the Go-Pro HD- it's just a point and shoot camera.
Looks like this:

This is the set up I got:
http://www.amazon.com/GoPro-CHDHH-001-HD-Helmet-Hero/dp/B002VA56I8
We were very lucky and got the helmet cam setup from Woot.com during a sale for $149.00.
I have added a GoPro LCD BacPac screen to the camera:

It attaches to the camera and you can see what you are recorded or what you have on your SD card (watch your video). It also has speakers so you can hear. It comes with several different back door attachments so your camera can remain water tight in it's housing. Cost $80.
Someone said you can find some bargins on the GoPro, but you'll end up buying all kinds of goodies to go along with it...chest straps, helmet attachments, bar attachments, extra everything. Yep.
The quality of the video is stunning. Ever watch shows like Dirty Jobs or Deadliest Catch? They use GoPro cameras for many of their shots - they are that good.

I think the biggest difference is in the attachments that come with the camera. You'll need some bar attachments, you might want a chest attachment (I don't have one - I use a mono-pod )a bacpac view screen and a good fast SD card. I do think some of the newer models have easier to use menues.....with only 2 buttons, it is a challenge navigating all the video options available in these small packages. I'd go to a store and hold one and play with buttons before I decided unless you get a really good ebay or amazon deal.

I haven't tested it, but I'd think not. Besides, the color would make it impossible to see if it was a few yards away from you. When on the boat, I attach a float to mine.

I advise the battery pack, if you want to collect long videos. IMO the bacpac is not necessary since its such a wide angle camera its not much problem view finding with it. Just point it in the approximate direction and you should be good.

Got mine a week ago. Love the camera and set-up but a word to the wise. I somehow got a scratchy place on the outside of the waterproof case in the middle of the where the lens goes. Definetly shows up on the video. I think it rubbed against something else in my bag. Protect the lens area of the case!
