Ouch. Dang, I fish the cooper river a lot....I keep very few fish but maybe this explains the twitches from a few of those trout I grilled over the years. j/k.

I do not understand why any amount of known carcinogens are allowed to be dumped into the water? We are not allowed to have a faded outboard sticker but big business is allowed to destroy wildlife and the environment sometimes permanently? It's all about the dollar.

There are almost no restrictions on fish caught in the Cooper according to the SC DNR. You can use this link from the SC DNR to monitor the water quality...if you believe their data. I think I might put more faith in the DNR than in the Post Courier info.

Sorry...that page is from DHEC. You can access it through the SC DNR site which is where I went to find it initially. There is a lot of other info regarding water quality on the DNR site and more info as well on the DHEC site if you are interested.

Reel, I thought you were looking a little weird lately ...

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

A while back, I used Google earth to look at some spots N of Mark Clark Br. There, coming right out of Westvaco, was a dark brown stain that covered about a 1/2 mile of the river below the outfall. Caustic liquor, I guess.
