The Sons Of Confederate Veterans will be hosting its 1st Annual Saltwater Slam on August 11th at the Cooper River Marina. Weigh in will be from 3-5pm at the marina with awards, and prize money to follow.

Captains meeting will be held on August 9th at 6:30 pm at Finz Bar & Grill located at 440 W. Coleman Blv. Mt. Pleasant SC. There will be a complimentary BBQ dinner for all registered anglers, as well as a tournament t-shirt, large raffle, and live music.

Entry fee is 35 dollars per angler. You can pre register online at www.pmr2222.org or come to the captains meeting and pay with cash. Check out our facebook events page for constant updates at http://www.facebook.com/events/336233556437262/

Our tournament will be benefiting the "Disabled American Veterans" and the SCV for local historical preservations.

Targeted Species will be Redfish, Flounder, and Sheepshead. The redfish will be a cash pay out depending on amount of anglers. We will have great bundled gift packages for flounder, sheepshead, youth angler, lady angler, and best looking trash fish.

REDFISH
1st place prize will be a "minimum" 500.00 cash pay out, "depending on registration". Only one fish per angler will be weighed. In the event of a tie, we will award the largest length fish. All fish must be within SCDNR slot limits. "REMEMBER" ALL FISH WEIGH ALIVE WILL ALWAYS WEIGH MORE ON THE SCALE. Just another incentive to practice catch and release!

All interested participants can call me anytime at (321)-446-7785, (843)-296-9104 or email me at herndongroup@live.com.

This will be a family fun event, and we look forward to seeing everyone out on the water.

Sounds like fun ill play, but as s thought you could do a picture tournie make the tish be on the ruler and give all participants a card to put in pic. That would allow us to get a lot more and bigger fish.

I'm a high class redneck.

Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in pfgs and buffs.

Yeah but that takes all the fun away from the weigh in! Still may be adding some more categories though. One of which will be largest refish on a fly, which would be a picture with angler number, fish on a ruler, and fly in the mouth, as well as most spots on a red captured via picture as well.

All of this is depending on number of entries on wheather we'll add more drama to the mix!

Thanks for the input!

Sounds like a great tournament, nice to be able to weigh in from the water, don't have to trailer the boat anywhere.
How is the sponsorships and the pre registration going?
Any count on the number of anglers or adjusted prize pool would be great.
Looke forward to being at he Captains meeting on August 9th

It's shaping up to be an awesome tournament... One I look forward to doing for years to come! We have some great corporate sponsors such as Haddrells Point Tackle, Reel Sassy, Z-MAN Fishing, SellsFish Seafood, FINZ Bar and Grill, ATP Gun Shop, and Manale Landscaping LLC. We have about 25 pre registrations in so far but we are expecting a big crowd at the captains dinner... The prize money for first place is now up to 750.00. But will only go up, depending on registration.

We've also got some great gift packages for all other categories, and species!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at FINZ August 9th!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's a pretty safe bet that the Tournament T shirt will have a rebel flag somewhere on it.

Hey Fishful let us know if the prize money gets to $1,000.00, you'll have em coming out of the woodwork for that!

Great Job, I'm looking forward to it!

I have heard that 1st place RedFish prize money has been capped at $750.00?
But the advertisemsnt for the tournament says "The redfish will be a cash pay out depending on amount of anglers."

"REDFISH 1st place prize will be a "minimum" 500.00 cash pay out, "depending on registration". (all in 1st post)

On July 23rd there was enough pre registrations to guarantee $750 1st place. why are the tournament organizers stopping there? What if 60 people show up at the captains meeting, register and pay $35.00 each Thurs. night?? No mor $$ for the anglers.??

"depending on registration" means the more anglers that pay $$ to enter the more $$ you will pay back, just saying.

Yes Sir. 500.00 was the original minimum. We then raised it due to pre registrations. We have not been able to secure enough yet to up the prize money any more "thus far". However, depending on turnout tomorrow night we are hoping to raise it to at least 1000.00. We'll have to wait and see. Remember, this is not a 100 percent payout. We are raising money the DAV, and the SCV. With that being said though... With the feedback and buzz I have been getting lately it seems that we should be able to meet our 1000.00 mark. We'll just have to see! I will also say that this is a well organized event, especially for a first year tourney and will only get better next year! Thanks for your input, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, and on the water!

Fishfull - For those of us that registered but couldn't make the captains meeting will you please share any additional information that was presented last night but is not currently on the board.

What time is "lines wet"?
Do boats need to leave from the Marina?
Any other prizes other than "big fish" and those mentioned in your first post?

Thanks!

You can drop lines at 12:01 Saturday morning.

You can leave from anywhere youd like, fish from anywhere you like, just make it to the weigh in from 3-5.

1st place red is 750.00
1st place sheepshead and floundr are haddrells gift cards and a 1 yr range pass for atp gunshop.

Lady angler is a pass for atp gunshop, a ladies gun shooting kit, and a gift package from "Reel Sassy"

Youth angler is a ZMAN lure package kit

trash fish is a 25.00 gift card for east coast guns.

Hope this helps, tight lines!

By the way, this was a great little tournament for those of you that missed it. Very well done for a first time tournament, keep ypur eyes out for this one next summer, the tournament organizers will tweak the format a little next year taking some suggestions from the anglers. Should be a fun tournament for years to come.

Winning Weights were:

Trash Fish - 1.17 lbs = Lonnie East Sr. (Ladyfish)
Sheepshead - 7.12 lbs = Chris Riley (also youth angler)
Flounder - 4.75 lbs = John Murdaugh
Redfish - 5.12 lbs = Steve Chapman
