Where is a good place to start and end? I remember YEARS ago we would drop a car off at a landing then drive to the starting point. I am looking for 1/2 day trip with the family and some friends. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You can drop a car at Jellico on 17A and go around to hwy 15 and start from there. Don't know how long it will take to float but that is where some of my old buddies used to float it.

Please be careful! Friend of ours lives up near west bank...says the gators have gotten terrible.....and got one of their springer spaniels not long ago...said he weighted about 50 lbs and the gator grabbed him like he was a little rag.....

| Way too dangerous. Contact Dolphin Dave at Time Out and rent some kayaks or contact Tommy Samuels @ KayakFishSC.com for guidance or guide service. |

it SO DANGEROUS only about 20,000 people do it every weekend without problem. the biggest danger you have is getting arrested for drinking a beer on the colleton county side.
put in at good hope and take out at jellico's or put in at jellicos and take out at martins landing.
just follow the trucks with the inner tubes.

Sorry..... maybe I'm thinking of the wrong end of the river...all I know is where we go at west bank and down n the other side of the bridge the gators are thick.....won't catch me in there unless I'm in a boat...

Check out http://www.tubingtheriver.com for some places to float in the Edisto. They have maps and videos to help you get there.
We go multiple times a year and haven't had any problems with gators. See signs of them, but haven't actually seen any while floating. If the waters up over 5ft on the gauge be careful of the current around the trees.
Good Hope to Jellico is our normal spot. Fewer houses and a more remote float. If you want lots of people and houses on the banks then float Givhans to Masservy. Don't drink any alcohol while you're at the landing and/or park and you'll be fine.

It isn't tubing but canoeing down the edisto.

Been doing this trip since the early 90's and it is always a blast. We usually take about 8 hours to make it down the river. Haven't done an overnighter in the treehouses yet but we always say we should.

Thanks, Fritz. I have always wanted to do the tree houses too, but, have you seen how much they are charging now?
