Just flat out getting skunked. I got birds, but they got hens. So, I got nothing. Usually Im up to about two birds around this time of the season.

| Try hunting mid-morning or after lunch. The hens should be on the nest by then. We had some success at 1:00pm in Ga last weekend. It's HOT out there and the bugs are bad, the gobblers should alone. You set around the roost late afternoon, but the hens could be present by then. It's a thought... |

Two saturdays ago, I hunted from 2pm to 3:30. Went to leave and they were coming into the field with big boy following behind. They were to close to sneak so I stayed put. Hunted Friday afternoon from 5:30 to roost and watched 3 strutting in the field with 6 hens. Hunted Saturday morning in the rain, still with the hens. I understand what he's doing, he's living the dream. Why would you leave 5 hens for a lonesome one? I sure wouldn't.

Scouted yesterday evening and saw 7 groups of birds, 2 of the groups were bachelor groups of gobblers. Hard to leave the office this time of year being in ag or I would have gone this morning. Sometimes you need to put the slip on them and get out in front, the one my buddy killed the other week was henned up hard but we got infront of them and callled the hens to us, gobblers in tow, game over. Still gobbling in the am and actually had one gobbling at us last night, cooler weather moving in might get them back in the mood.

Its far from over, they are just still with hens. I shot one at a buddys place this weekend at 1pm. He hadnt been breeding much yet because he didnt have the white on the bottom of his breast where the feathers rub off from breeding. Hunted mon morning in the national forest had one longbeard gobble and work in behind me, but would not come out in front. Then called in 2 jakes within 20yds, they both had roughly a 3"-4" beard. Watched them do their thing for a little bit and let them walk.

that white spot comes from them roosting on a limb. not breeding. or atleast thats what ive always heard. no way they breed so much that they rub a spor of hair off their breast bone. |

I've been twice and the score is turkeys 2 me 0. I'm going to try again and see if I can tip the scales to me a little. This is the most fun I've ever had to not shoot and still call it hunting. Mr Hardware |

Season is not over. Gobbling birds this morning in wind and rain. I set up thinking they were on one side of a cutdown and for the first time this season they were on the other side. Shutup once they were on the ground of maybe I couldnt hear them because of the wind. Trying this afternoon.

I have hunted pretty7 hard and have not seen the first bird. Fields are too high. I have one plot that was just disked. Do you think they will work it for bugs or wait until it dries out to dust themselves. Also thinking about going into swamp.

Swore I was done for the season but went yesterday morning with KC and (**() if we didnt have 7 birds gobbling as the sun came up. Got on a group about 7:30 and had them coming in strong when they just walked off. 2 grown birds. We didnt know what the world had happened and stood up to move and a limb walking ps tom flew out of a pine 15 steps from us. I heard a sound but thought kc had accidentally bumped his call. Had we looked up that bird would fallen to the ground instead of flown. After 8 and still in the tree, **** er. All the other birds were on the ground by 6:55.

Got out the truck and had birds gobbling at 6:20 this morning. Still could not believe it. Full moon and cold snap had them going good. Heard 8 different birds and they were all hot after the got off the roost. Problem is that this morning they were roosting on the property across the road. Still set up and went at them and they gobbled the whole time. Left them gobbling for the last saturday of working at the tax firm.

| Not a peep this AM nor other guys in my club hunting our other tracts. Did sit over a field later this morning and had a hen and jake come out and feed. Didn't expect gobbling but was sure hoping for some. Maybe tomorrow the switch will turn on our birds... |

Went saturday afternoon and decided to not put decoys out since everytime I have they went the opposite direction. This time they hung up at 70 because they didnt see the decoys. Went the next morning after sunrise service and at 7:50 big boy was in the field with a hen. three others were gobblin way off from the field but headed towards it. called the hen across the field running with him in tow and when she got to 40 yards she saw either me or something she didnt like and flew off. He did the same after sitting around for 2 minutes. got within 40 yards of another gobbler by putting the sneak on him, but never got a shot on him. This must not be my year.

I went the 24th and the 7th in Dorchester Cty. NADA - Zilch - Never saw or heard a bird. They did a Houdini on me. All during deer season they would be all over you! Will be that way during the summer too?????? Must have been hened up if they were still there.
