Headed straight out towards the 226 hole Thursday, stopped on the ledge to try it out and stayed all day. First fish was a 30-40 lb Wahoo within the first hour. Then the dolphin bite turned on. Alot of action but missed about 5 small dolphin on short strikes. One slinger and one gaffer in the boat. Decided to troll back over the ledge one last time in the afternoon and caught a daymaker Wahoo around 50-60 lbs. Perfect 30 minute fight and 2 large crewmembers to get the beast in the boat. 2 for 3 on the Wahoo. SW wind sucked totally soaked on the way in.

Nice job.
How was the ocean? We considered going but pulled the plug around noon.

We fished G Town hole and SW banks looking for wahoo all day- we ran a total of 230 miles and it was very rough- only caught one dolphin at 25 lbs- super jealous of the wahoo you caught.....we really needed it for a tournament- i guess you never know what the ocean holds but congrats on the day and for being one of a few boats brave enough to fish yesterday

We were in a brand new 27 ft Sea Hunt center console "The Black Pearl" owned by T Franzone in the pics and the seas were sideways nasty all day. We were able to run 25-30 MPH on the way out and 20-25 MPH on the way in. Not real big waves, only 3-4 ft but steady 15-20 kt wind. We caught every third wave in the face on the way home but it was worth it. Fun first trip of the season.

Why do you guys bother posting reports? All the fishing gods on here already know what you caught anyway. Heck it's fishin what would be the fun of it if you don't get to stretch it a little. The fishing gods are awesome, they know how much your fish weigh, i think it gives them a woody. Whatever floats their bigger than mine boat i guess. Congrats on some nice fish and good luck next trip.

It was a fun trip and the 60 Lb wahoo just capped it off, that was a thick fish, I had a great crew, the Gaff man was Incredible and the man at the wheel did awesome as well to keep the fish from getting into the props. Way to go guys "Let do it again."

Maybe you should post on the supersensitivefisherman.com. Over there, they won't haggle you for overestimating the size of your fish and if someone offends you, they are required to send you a hand written apology on floral stationary with a bit of sweet perfume on it, maybe even some vanilla fields or freesia if you are lucky. One offended fishermen even received a loofa sponge in the mail with an exfoliation stone for their feet... It's a great site...

OK Here is a better picture of the Wahoo in question. For reference
Tom is 6'4" and 250 lbs. The girth of the fish was 28" = REAL FAT.
How much does it weigh?

Well, since you asked... I could believe that the larger one is in the 50+lb range, but don't think that the smaller one is close to 40. I would like to call bull**** on Tom being 250lbs though...

Anyway, definitely a nice wahoo. I realize that you haven't done this, but other's get all twisted up when you challenge them on weights and I think it's silly for grown men to get their feelings hurt about being challenged on fish weights... That was really my only point about posting. It's fishing, and it's competitive. Get used to it! If it's too much, there is always crochet or cooking.

Solution to this alleged fish weight in question- Hang it from a scale next time and take a picture while its on the scale! Or run a tape down it for length and around it for girth and take pics of that. Then, there's no question! If the fish is actually 28" around as you said, then it could easily way 50+lbs. Is it? I dunnno. But I do think that it is a solid fish tho, every bit of 40lbs if your measurements were close. Does it matter!? Heck no! Thats a great hoo anyday man, congrats to yall.

Dang, if the rule is to take a picture of it hanging from a scale, along with a tape measure, yall won't be seeing any of my fish.

That's a fine wahoo right there He was "that" big.

6'4" 250 Well there you go.....
Never, never, never let the biggest guy in the crew hold up the catch of the day when your taking pics.Happens to me all the time,my skinny friend's fish always look better in the pictures.

We caught this 68lb wahoo about 4 years ago when I was at 240.
I'm now right at 220 so that same fish would now be a whopping 88lbs.

Hope this helps..

Skinneej thank you for your concern, seems alil homo so just to let you know I'm not your type. A lot of smartazzes on here that can't wait to bust someone that knows less about saltwater fishing than they to do. I appreciate all the helpful folks on here but they are a lot of people that will say things to folks and in a way they wouldnt dare say to someone's face. I can take all the ribbing in the world and can give it but there are a few on here like buzzards that can't wait to bust someone on something. Tight lines Chip

Chip, the point is... Someone called BS on an estimated weight. Who cares? If someone really get's their feelings hurt, then fishing is probably not the best avenue for them to try.
