I got skunked again today please someone help me!!!

Tried cut mullet, mud minnows, Gulp + Z-Man on the bottom and with a float

I saw reds looking at my bait but no takers

What is going on?

I dont take any beer on my kayak could that be the problem?

It's tough right now Dave. Warm weather got here before the menhaden showed up in serious numbers and the fish a pretty confused.
I saw a few keyed in on micro shrimp on Saturday and Sunday. They ignored everything else.

Did manage 1 red and 1 blue Saturday, then 1 red and 1 flounder Sunday.

I think it will turn on with a vengeance in a couple of weeks. Until then you can go after big girls off the beach.

dlw,
I only had one good hookup on Saturday. Really weird conditions with the flood tide.I gotta say it's looking to be a bit strange this year. Last year the Reds would be doing the open water run, as opposed to running into the grass (where I'm fishing, anyway) My good hookup on Saturday with fish (30" + from what I could see) was jumping, diving, jumping again, after the initial 40 yard run. Looks like a fun season approaching.

Unless I'm flats fishing, I don't even try during big tides. Between the mud and hard currents there's no point. Don't know what it was like today, but I took my daughter to the beach Sat and the water looked pretty nasty.

If you've got fish around your bait, I don't know. ????

I did good on Sat with 4 28-30" reds, 6 barely slot reds and 1 13" flounder. Sunday I fished the same spot, had one big red break me off and two trout that flipped the hook but not another bite. The only difference I could see in the day was wind from the north on Sat and from the west on Sun.

Took the stink off my 14Ft Malibu Stealth today hiding from the wind on the leeward side of the river

Caught three reds all slot size (Released in good shape)

Fished the Wando River 1 hour each side of the high tide I must have seen 30-40 fish
no pods only 1 at a time they were sitting in the grass along a mile stretch not 25ft off the
main river

The ones I caught were eating/moving around and only saw one tailing

Just could not make the sleepy ones bite only the happy hungry reds
Stand up fishing is great and not so great you can see more fish but when you cant make them
bite xxxxx
I was going to start knocking them out with my paddle is that legal?

Good for you. I am dying to get down that way but can't seem to get away right now. Hopefully by the time I can get down there, the fish will get more receptive to eating.

Besides the lil sweet beavers on a 1/16 jighead working latelty also spook jr, mirrodines both with single hooks instead of trebles(2/0 live bait with solid ring) casted into the grass and worked out has been producing some reaction hook ups.
