Like I had posted the other day a friend and myself came down to Murray from NC. We put in at Dreher Island and headed over toward shull pt. looking for any schooling activity but never saw any. We did mark fish and some bait off the point so we set up and pulled boards. We caught 2 with one keeper and several nice bass. After fishing there we headed back up the lake to where the rivers come together and marked fish at the mouth of little saluda. It looked promising but we only picked up two shorts. We then moved back down the lake and cut baited on several points but only picked up catfish. Later in the afternoon we found a nice school of fish out from Dreher island on an underwater island and caught 14 shorts and 1 keeper all on planer boards. All and all it was a good day. It would have been nice to catch a few more keepers, but its always fun to fish different water. I hope to make it back down there this summer to fish the deep water downrod bite. I may ask for a few pointers before we head that way. Thanks for the reports it helps out of towners such as myself.
