http://now.msn.com/now/0516-walmart-black-announcement.aspx

Just another scumbag looking for a payout... I really hope that Wal-Mart fights this one tooth and nail and doesn't settle out of court. "Emotional distress" my ass... I hope this loser get's stuck with a big bill from his lawyer...

"A black man is suing Walmart for $1 million in damages, claiming he suffered emotional distress while he was shopping at a store in Washington Township, N.J. On March 14, 2010, a voice came over the PA system announcing: "Attention Walmart customers: All black people leave the store now." A manager quickly took control of the microphone and a 16-year-old boy was later arrested for the prank. Donnell Battie's lawyers claim the megastore was negligent and reckless in allowing the incident to occur, and that he suffered from a number of psychological disorders as a result"

Skinneej,

Walmart should offer the guy free psychiatric care. I wonder how that'd play out...

Funny thing is, even with his "emotional distress", he probably thinks this is the best thing that ever happened to him. Nowadays it's better to be a child molester or rapist than a racist. Add in large, multi-billion-dollar corporation and what do you get: FREE MONEY.

Look on the bright side. At least Walmart will be paying his way instead of you and me. At least until the money runs out (in a month or so)...

Wal Mart is the most sued company in the world and pays out less then all the rest. They use fronted policy's and some self funded coverage. Extrapolated the customers are paying just like every other business .

That's actually brilliant! Not sure how the courts could refuse...

Yeah, it wouldn't last long. He would probably go out and finance a 2 million dollar house and a few bentleys wondering why he couldn't make his payments in 6 months.

Did anyone else notice that the event happened in March of 2010? Does it take this long to get something to go to court, or did it take him this long to figure out that he was "emotionally distressed"?

Also, on a serious note. Sometimes at work, I feel a little "emotionally distressed". Deadlines, goals, metrics, etc put a lot of emotional strain on a person. Does this mean I can get a cool million too?

You guys make fun all you want but, imagine you being in a Walmart and an announcement coming over the PA system saying all white people must leave the store. How would you feel? This poor guy's self-esteem probably plummeted after hearing this.

Hope your joking....

I would find it funny as heck, if I were in the store and heard that!

I would know it was someone up to a prank, I'm just smart like that!

If they would have said all Mexican's that might have been better as only 1/2 would probably know what was said.

I might be a little upset if I would have heard All American's must leave.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

My feelings are worth at least 3.8 million and not a penny less according to my calculations! Only then could I get my life back on track to happiness.

If they pay one they will have about 200,000 blacks saying they were in the store.Remember years ago an empty bus accident and they filmed people getting on the bus claiming they were injured.LOL

Nice fish Bart. Fishing is certainly a good way to work through distress, it always makes me feel more relaxed.

Love to settle out of court. Drinks on me! Sorry for miss understanding you. I just get a little too worked up over the crazy law suits. I got called a "stupid Cracker" today. I took it with a grain of salt. Dude did call back and appologize, when he found he still needed my help. One thing that won't change, we'll all die. Black, White, Yellow. I'm ready.

No worries, after 23 years of marriage, I am pretty thick skinned. I'll take that drink.
