Ok. Where to start. I've been watching the boards all weekend seeing how everybody's been doing with the full moon, super high tide and weather. Some of you are here posting "we caught 16 trout, we caught 17
Trout, we nailed the reds and caught some pigs with live minnows under a float rig"

The reel story for me today was finding the fish. We hit our normal go to spots, today expecting mostly trout and hoping for a few reds. I thought for sure after reading all the posts we have killed it. We had the right plastics, we had cut bait, we had live minnows
Our go to spots weren't holding any fish. It was weird. We did hit a spot behind goat island, past the corner and before greys where we saw 2reds up in the grass but they didn't want anything we had. Finally as the tide turned the spot we were at produced a few trout. Few is two, a nice 18 flounder and for down here the biggest blue fish I've ever seen here which was 20 inches..
And that was it. All you saying your catching 15-16-17 trout , I think your lying and just reporting old pics.
Yes I know the trout bite is strong right now but until you take me out and we catch 15 trout in just a few hours. I call BS. Atleast for this past weekend. I've been out at one of our spots we hit today and caught a trout every cast for 3 hours. So I know it can be done, but like I said with all those elements against you this past weekend no way you guys were boating that many fish. Prove it. I'm off Tuesday let's go

If the number of fish I actually caught was the measure of what is really getting caught, everyone would quit fishing. I have been skunked many times when it seemed that everyone else was catching and I have had good weekends when no one else posted anything. Just go out, try your best and enjoy the fact that you are blessed with the opportunity to fish in SC.

I,too, sometime question the angler who posts his/her fishing experience. However, it is great entertainment! Keep bringing it on!!

It is no wonder that alot of people don't post reports here, and for the record I took my soon to be 4 year old on Saturday and we caught 35 trout in 1.5 hours.

Now that's getting it done flyinghigh!

For me, these reports at the least are entertaining and motivate me to get out there and wet a line.

It's all about having fun and enjoying this beautiful country here in SC...catching is just a bonus.

Personally, I killed it this weekend. I caught b/w 20-25. All were smallish. Problem was they were all baby sharks but one, and it was a 12 inch trout. Anyway, It was tough for me too, but my uncle caught several trout and flounder in a different spot at the same time I was fishing. I must have been where the fish werent!

I feel your pain and your post is what has been rolling around in my fishy brain. Why is what HAS worked NOT working? I've had a rough spring as far as catching goes, not that I'm any kind of pro but I THOUGHT I had a clue.

Having a short history of success at this, I'm going to start working harder at trying different methods and spots. My "go to & slay 'em" spots haven't worked. I'm going to try to think more.

That may sound corny, but when you can pull up and catch them pretty easily, you don't have to think much. Warm winter after 2 cold ones, bait in creeks all year, shrimp recovering and early, DFreedom catching 10 fish annually (up from 3). Different game.

I'm actually looking forward to the challenge.

When I post reports, I post pics of almost every fish, and they ARE different fish because you can tell by the spots. When Im showing Reds... I usualy wear the same shirt and shorts and hat every time I go fishing too, and someone said "Hey, that's the same outfit you wore in the last report" It's sad someone actually noticed it, but now I make it a habit to wear something different every trip. It's sad that I have to do that to prove Im catching fish. I know you were prolly just kidding around chef about people lying about their catch, but that is the attitude around here lately. People call BS on other people's catch all the time around here. It's sad and makes people NOT want to post reports because of the fact someone is going to Analysze and Inerpret their catch...

As far as the fishing today, 6-6-12, I was in the harbor and was hooked up with Sharks non-stop. It was rainy, windy, and choppy, but a friend from out of town wanted to fish so I took him for sharks cos thats what he wanted to cacth. Tomorrow we are going for Reds. Good lukck and keep trying.

As far as the trout bite, once you find that hole, I have gotten hits every cast on grubs in that hole...

chefparrothead I took my mom and dad out on Saturday. We used live shrimp for bait and fished in the upper Wando, we fished in 4-6 feet of water and caught a lot of trout 12inches long. Hope this helps you out.

so guys thanxs for all your comments and just to be clear Im not calling anyone out or saying they are lying, all I know is like all of you who have fished these surrounding waters for some time have learned when and where to go and to what to use to put a few fish in the boat and its not even a thought
"well this spot isn't working lets roll over to that double dock that ALWAYS holds fish"-- and then you get their and you throw in the spot where you know fish hang because of a drop off, or the way the current goes, whatever. and bump bump bump along the bottom waiting for that rod to be just about yanked outta your hand the moment you turn to look at the boat passing by and nothing but friggen pinfish striking short..
It's like Vin said normal spots lately just haven't held fish, now the weather(full moon, super high tide, low pressure system) all working against us I know isn't normal all at the same time but it's disheartening to sit here watching the boards with all those factors against you and see people still slayin them and you just barely got the skunk outta the boat.. And yes Like some of you said I have been skunked many times before and I am sure it will happen again.. thats the name of the game..yes thats why its called fishin not catchin..blah
Also as some have said I do feel blessed to be able to just go out and fish these waters, I grew up fishing Raritan Bay area in NJ, fishing in the south is totally different then how I grew up fishing with my family on my father 1970 40Ft Carver.. We mostly were drifting for Flounder(Fluke), trolling for Stripers or Blues, or even over nights trips to the Hudson Canyon Tuna fishing.. Alot more variety down here and seems like alot more skill or finesse is involved down here...and I love it but I just want to catch fish and really Im not a big keeper of any inshore fish, maybe a flounder, a red or a trout once in a while but Im more into the sport and the fight then I am filling my cooler.
Bottom line is I just want to catch some fish and to Deamon..yes we all know their are big reds at the jetty's, Ive caught my share of pigs out there, but how many BSB did you throw back before you caught them?.. Id rather be in a creek or on a flat stalking tails or listening for a the SLAP of a red nailing the bank chasing a fiddler
thats all im saying

Hate to admit it, but I hardly caught any fish the last two years. I'd come back from a weekend skunk, log in to CF and see lots of guys that caught fish. Maybe now that fewer guys are catching fish my luck will turn.

If you're lucky enough to be fishing, you're lucky enough.

We caught a grand total of "0" BSBs on Sunday. The point of this post is the jetties were not our first choice, but with the monster tide flow inshore was going to be a crap shoot. You just need to have several back-up plans and not just one or 2 hot spots, especially when dealing with the big tides that happen around the full moon.

I fished all day in my boat last Saturday and my buddy fished in his. We fished all over the Wando. Jigs, Zara Spooks, Mirrodine, Rat-L-Trap, you name it. Didn't get a stinking bite.
