At Waterfront Park for yesterday's sunrise I watched two clear the water off the pier. They were huge! I was not camera ready but they did create a wonderful memory.

The dolphin were active behind these two and feeding. The fish I saw glided momentarily and looked like photos on the web of albacore, matching their size and profile.

Boy this is going to save a lot of gas money! Now I can catch albacore in a Jon boat and also save lots, not having to buy all that off-shore stuff!

Are you saying they were false albacore? I don't know about here but back up on Cape Cod they would come into the harbor and feed. Def did not get to more than 12-15 lbs. though. I'm gonna guess either tarpon or sturgeon like Easy and Hungryneck said.

They were probably small tarpon although if anyone mistakes tarpon for albacore, they should probably stick to bass fishing.

I was fishing a crankbait for trout at Castle Pinckney several years ago at daybreak and a 40 plus pound king exploded on it. The next day I saw 3 more large kings cruising the shallows at daybreak. I was ready with the tackle but my casts spooked them. Could be what he saw as the pier is just across the channel.

Ruby Lipped Sea Hag. I got into a school of them bad apples in Key West last night and they took me for a ride doing the Duval Crawl. Make sure you use wire if you're targeting them things. They're vicious.

I have caught plenty of kings before in NC; they are long and slender. This is not what I saw and stand my ground.

What 60 line and depth? Where is waterfront park?

I am struggling between two options.

1) put a greenstick on my alumacraft to trick them

or

2) thawing a box of hering inside my yak's cockpit and chunking for them

I do not think I have heavy enough tackle to land those beasts tho.

Advice much appreciated.

Freshwater Manatees should not be in the saline Charleston harbor but they do show up.
