Anyone catching kings locally in the charleston area yet this summer?
Shipping channel, live bottom etc? There were a ton of bluefish in the harbor the other day and I was wondering if they make decent live bait.... |

Not sure yet but kind of funny, I actually had a dream last night I was dropping pogies in the water at the end of the rocks
Got two more weeks before I get my first trip of the year to IOP and I am ready to go

| Nice. Let me know if you want company. 2 smaller boats better than one past the rocks. |

Sure will, we hit the water every day for kings if conditions are ok. if not fish as the rocks or North up ICW for sharks and stuff
Plenty of cold beer and cigars when we go

I have caught several kings since last week. From 50-110 ft. One very nice one and a couple of small ones. They are out there. All caught on or near live bottom. Should get better now through November. I have caught several big spanish close to shore also. Haven't heard of any on the beach yet....
Tight lines.

Knot@work what were you using for bait. Live, dead, lures, or spoons? Thanks Mr Hardware |

I plan to go this weekend I will give a report from murrells inlet. I have been hit a couple of times but it is hard to make a big deal about getting a strike because there are so many spieces out there that will give a good strike and all you have is half of a fish on your hook to go by...

Not sure if this helps but as chance may have I was walking out to the end of folly pier when I heard a reel going crazy. The guy who's reel it was yelled that's a King! He fought for a a good 20 minutes and somehow his buddy Gaffed the thing with a long rope and hooks. They kept yelling they one $1000 dollars in reference to some tournament? His buddy said it was the first King on Folly Pier in Two Years? They looked happy! Hope this helps...

The kings are thick from the beach to 90 ft right now. Lots of fish weighed in the tournament yesterday. Lots of decent fish too. It will be hot fishing until the middle of Dec. for sure with the water temps still pushing 80.
Tight lines.

Capt. Olsen was right. The kings have showed up last weekend. We fished North in 60' of water, in a fairly well know location. great bite, caught and released 10-12 fish kept 4 to weigh-in. Mullet, pogies and misc jigged up fish as bait. all worked. They'll are here for awhile. Most fish were in the 20's Some in the high 20's. Of course what Capt. Robert forgot to mention his 32.4 lb fish won the tournament. It would have been nice if they were here like that in July/August. It's time that SKA Division 3 is Fished in August Sept. and Oct. Like the NC guys get.
