I have a few questions about one and would like a good once over by a knowledgeable FICHT guy. It's a 99 225hp approx 275 hrs (hour meter quit) and runs great now. I want to keep it that way.

Reman engine ecu. New Carter fuel pump, plugs indexed, all cylinders 115-120 psi.

I just bought this boat at just the hull price, kinda like a free Evinrude. I figure they all can't be bad, this one has been around 13 years and still runs.

Looking for 21-24 bay or deep V boat

While I'm no expert on FICHT's, or any other outboard engine, I do enjoy working on them myself. From what I've read, and learned, if your engine's still around you must have one of the few good ones. The U.S. Coast Guard did a mandatory recall on those engines several years back due to a fuel leak causing explosions leading to fires, and personal injuries. If I remember correctly the recall work done at an OMC Dealership, marked the work having been done, by placing a rubber boot over the #1 injector. You might want to check for safety reasons. You might also get a qualified marine tech. to do a dump on your old ecu. to check for codes, and true engine hours by rpm's. Nothing like a free 'Rude!! Best of luck with it!!!

The top injector has a black boot on it. The guy I got it from said he was taking it to an evinrude guy for service. I believe him because the plugs were marked for indexing which is an evinrude thing.

I am going to buy the cable and software to read the ecu info myself.

Smart move to have toeboat or seatow even with 3 new motors! Its not alway the motors that get you in trouble out there!

I never had the full coverage before because my skiff had a real strong trolling motor and I only ran around inshore. 1 time I went over 3 miles on the Folly back to the landing. And that was a Honda on it. (awesome engine btw, just heavy)

So, today I took it upon myself to try and get the Evinrude diagnostic software working. I took an old DB9 cable and got a 3 pin deutsch connector from work and made a cable. There is some good reading on continuous wave on how to make it all work.

Now that I know it works, I am going to get components and fabricate a quality cable.
