Anyone have one of these boats? How about just a Scout in general? Have you been pleased with it? How does it ride? How is it on fuel? How far out do you go in it?

We are looking to get a more family friendly boat that will get more use and be easier on the wallet for gas. I like the appearance of the boat but don't know a whole lot about the brand.

My Mako 262 is for sale for anyone interested.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

No one in the area has ever ridden in one, driven one, own one, looked at one, touched one?

I have a 2003 Scout 185 SF I bought new. It has been a great boat. Quality of construction is as good as anybody. I have had no problems. Now that my kids are getting adult sized, I too, am looking for something larger. I want to see the 251 XS.

Scout...overpriced and over-hyped. I had a 2001 Abaco 280; the ride had a lot to be desired, and when you were loaded down(full fuel, water, ice, gear, crew), the scuppers were below the waterline and you had 6" of water in the cockpit. When I contacted the factory and told them about this obvious design flaw, all they said was sorry...it's not their problem.
Too many other better boats out there for less money.

I have owned 2 scouts (222 Sportfish and a 282 Sportfish) and I have been happy with them. I have had some gel coat cracking on them that I had fixed on the 222 and I need to get the cracking on my 282 fixed before the warranty runs out but not crazy about dragging it to sea ray. Well see. Fuel economy is great. Fit and finish is great. I hear the ride is crappy but honestly I dont think I run in the type of conditions that would cause the ride to be bad. I hear a contender or a regulator rides much better offshore but I am guessing that in light seas you could not tell the diffrence except in the fuel cost. The boat is the best combination of family fun and fishing that I have seen. I am looking at getting a 35 and scout is at the top of my list.

Scout, you either like them or you don't. Mine has served me well. A lot of differing opinions on TheHullTruth.com.
