Wappoo Cut..

So we decided to stop by the cut today..Got there pretty late in the day..but there were still several people there sitting and taking in the sights....pulled out a chair to sit a spell. Nice cool breeze rolling in...and many who came in were talking about how hot it was today..and rough out too. so heres a few pics...

Room with a view....or two..

"Going Green" (pretty boat!)

Wishing he could ...."Go" green

Seeing Red>>>

The man in green...and a new machine!

Men in Black.....they'll be watching you!

More Men at work....

Most Patriotic wear...

Flighing High...REALLY high!!!

Tight lines??...yepp I think his line is in

Thats either a blondes rendition of a corn hole game...or a clemson oyster table

ok...so driver of car number two is trying to get into ramp to load his trailer...man in large whaler sitting across all three loading ramps at end of dock...man in boat two asks him to pleas emove..yeah you..man in the green shirt in the whaler....can i get by..man in whaler continues to block...man in boat two slides past him and onto trailer...whaler man loads next to him and has things to say..man in boat two says..how about just go on bout your buisness...whaler man gives go ahead to driver and as they leave water jacks motor up (motor running and in gear)..and drenchs..i mean DRENCHES 2nd boater..and everyone else nearby. On top of that driver twos transmision goes out after he just got drenched..but a good samaratan pulled him out....Whaler man lucky driver two not a drunk or hot head!

Beer-thirty??..better get some ice on those things!

Idiots...take one..

slamming wake..

this makes me mad..and sad

Whats in a name..

Roo was getting exhausted from all the action

..and nothing like those boats that stay tide long ways on side where folks need to get off...this one was here the whole time we were there..

saw a few people that i thought this short bus had come to get

like these folks.....ok..heres is what I vote as most idiotic move of the day... Boat approaches dock..three people get out..2 males and a female...laughter..words to boat folks..and they walk off...
hey look says someone sitting at table behind us...they are walking up on the bridge..

no way!!!!

Idiots..take one-two-and three

and their friends and they all thought it was a blast..really cool...hilarious..
chuckles and high fives all around...

How Stupid. Im just glad no one was hurt.

party boat.

and they "rocked " the whole way through the cut

Roo thinks she is a lap dog..

another pretty boat..

how deep??

he had actually pulled back out about 5-6 feet!

and this little fella must have lost track of time
I kept hearing that song...how highs the water momma..lol

Great shots as always, Penny. Thanks for posting!

That DNR boat was really nice. We were at a housewarming on the cut and a big boat with twin 250 screamed by the dock at at about 40 knots, maybe 10 feet off. Unfortunately the DNR folks were checking a little jonboat for jackets and didn't see it. We hailed them over, but they said they could not even give a warning without seeing it happen. However, next pass up the cut, the recent offenders stayed well clear.

QUESTION: Didn't there used to be a speed limit in the cut, many years ago?

Penn, I thought you were "local". You couldn't graduate from St. Andrews or James Island without jumping off the Wappoo Cut Bridge, when I was in school.

Ifly....

Having been on the island for thirty years i guess am local...but smart enough to know that alcohol, and the wappoo cut don't mix very well...throw in the currents , boat traffic and impaired judgement and it makes it seem even more foolish. All I could think about was seeing this on the news , them trying to locate a body, and telling their families ....oh they were just having fun. Sorry...guess I'm a party pooper on this one....but life is way too short to take chances like this to make it even shorter. I
we also saw the last person who jumped from the seemingly harmless height of the little bridge across harbor view who didn't make it....guess that added to my dismay,

Can you imagine motoring under the bridge at the moment some jackwagon jumps off and hits your boat? Pretty stupid.

I've got to work this year for the fourth...it was either work during the week..or the weekend...so I chose a four day weekend off and working the fourth. I will miss it for sure....nothing as funny as sitting there and seeing hundreds of boing lights and the drone of so many motors rushing towards you as everyone races to get to their truck first....

Thanks pea pod..back atcha

Penny, I just read an article about the man the VA hospital was named after and it was a great article. They said his family comes in to bring snacks to the people once a week or once a month or something. No point really to me saying this, just thought it was cool that you work there.

Donnie will be there too. I may go for a cople hours...just so tradition isn't broken.

Worm wrangler.....I think they do it for the main hospital. Our unit is relocated now(and for the last year) on Ashley crossing road west Ashley while they revamp our floor at the va.We have contracted /lease a 20 bed wing in the nursing home there. . My patients are all hospice/end of life or long term care...folks who need around the clock care. All are 100% disabled..but can be a combination of things. Most have no one but us. I love my guys and my job...and feel honored to care for them..and be their friend. Sad as to how they have done so much and are often forgotten. We even have a 94 year old who served 20+ years...and was a pow for three.he still gets around pretty darn good. Oh..the stories that they share....and one day...sadly...when they go..so will their stories. Wish I could share some of them with you, and while they wouldn't mind.... I can't because of privacy laws. Sometimes it's like having 20 grandpas or husbands..they sure can be bossy...and expect their coffee promptly at bedtime and first thing in the morning. I spoiled them that way..lol.
So if you will..please take a minute to say a prayer of thanks to a soldier and our vets. In the midst of your fourth of July celebration..after all...isn't that what it is for? Without them we wouldn't have what we do.

Unit. Thanks. I will get more info from/to you as soon as I figure out details. I, as a veteran, have a lot of veteran friends, so I am trying to get something good together to bring. I will ask permission from you before I get it all together etc. Thanks again Penny!
