july 4th i found a sturgeon floating in the channel at the NWS.
it was about 4' long.then we headed to the harbor and caught a few small
sharks.finding the sturgeon was actually more exciting than catching the sharks as i've never seen one before.

Could you tell what killed the sturgeon? Hit by a boat or something else? The South Edisto River is full of them and as they sometimes launch themselves out of the water, just wondering if it hit something or something hit it in midair. They are a federally protected fish and even fishing for them is prohibited. I have seen them up close as one almost landed in our boat last year at Marker 153 in the ICW.
