A strap broke on the way home from a charter and my Adventure Technology carbon fiber paddle disappeared somewhere between Paradise Landing and Belle Hall.

Yep, she was the lightest and most expensive paddle I own(ed) Naturally the old fiberglass shaft paddle stayed put when the strap broke. :-P

Too late now, but for others out there, don't strap anything of value to the top of your vehicle that you can carry inside. Fishing poles, kayak paddles, even short surfboards, all go inside my Expedition when traveling. On top carry should be reserved for items that just won't fit in the vehicle. This does two things. First, it reduces the chance of loss due to theft or accident. Second, it reduces liability for flying objects that can damage property or injure people.

Sorry for the loss. Hopefully somebody will read this and return it!

Thanks.
The ONLY reason it wasn't in the car was the extreme heat yesterday caused the two pieces to stick together. When salt water dries in the ferrule, salt crystals form and the ferrule sticks. I was going to take it home and soak to dissolve the salt.

If it came off in traffic it's a useless pile of carbon fiber and foam. I really hope it didn't hit a car.

I lost a nice folding chair out of my truck recently. Forgot to close the gate (dumass). By the time I could turn around to get it, some one stole it! GRRRRRR

You could use a bamboo pole until your pole finds it way home or you can save for a replacement.

They're pretty cheap.

(I hope you get it back....sucks to lose stuff)

I write our name and number even on lifejackets that may blow out...that deters thiefs and "finders" from selling so quickly too.

I have Kayak Fish SC stickers on my paddles. No way anyone wouldn't recognize it. My guess is it turned into a useless pile of carbon fiber when it came off.
