After thinking about it, I don't think I'm going to fish it either. Don't really want for us to put up $125 for a 13 hr tournament while the "5 and done" law is in place.

I'm going to figure out a day and then see if there is any interest in a little fun "tournament" for a few hours one Saturday morning...something like from 6am-10am and $5 or $10 per person.

Maybe next Sat.

Sure. That works for me. I was just randomly picking a date. I'm going to contact a friend who hosts a spring tx at his house every spring and check what date works for them. I mentioned doing this again this summer, back in the spring, and his kids keep on asking him what am I waiting for... lol

Unless the 4th won't work for them, we'll go with that. I'll let you know.

Under the current regs your idea makes a lot more sense. Where would you initiate it from? The landing at the Towers or somewhere else? As we're water locked (we have our trailer but have yet to put a hitch on our vehicle) we'd have to travel from LHM to wherever.

Pattianne, No worries. You can launch from anywhere and head straight to where you are going to fish. We will just come up with a "lines in the water" time when it will be OK to actually start fishing and then a time and place to meet for the weigh in.

It will be Saturday 8/4. I'll post tonight with some more details.

is this 8/4 tourney open? fished murray a lot long time ago -been concentrating on the "hill" over the past years - actually live closer to murray-thinking bout getting over to murray again-sounds like a good reason to come over -do yall really think its gonna be 5 and done during a big tourney like the one happening sat?

Sure, it's open to everyone. It would be great to have some of you guys that don't necessarily fish Murray much to come on down and fish that morning. I would guess by then there will be a good number of fish suspended in the big water, so I don't think there will be a big disadvantage to not having any "honey holes" to go to. Most of us will probably be fishing in open water at the lower end of the lake. Also, with such little at stake (other than bragging rights, of course..LOL), you will find most everyone willing to call others over should they get into the fish.

As far as the tournament Sat night....I do know any tournament has to follow all DNR laws, which would include "5 and done" right now. I could have it wrong though. Since it spans over 2 days maybe you can catch 5 before midnight, legally remove them from the boat and then go back out after midnight?...guess it depends what the definition of a "day" is.

Maybe someone who better understands the law can answer.

Edit: Just looked up the new law and found this:

(3) 'Day' means the twenty-four hour period from one-half hour before official sunrise of one day to one-half hour before official sunrise the following day.

So, it looks like right now a "day" is from about 6am - 6am.
