Last Weekend We went out with Capt Ron Davis and learned a lot about Redfishing in Edisto Island area. Unfortunately due mostly to bad luck and personal inexperience we did not do so well catching redfish pushing water. We did catch one or two and lost one or two, and capt Ron showed us a lot which is what I was after mostly. So this weekend we are headed out again , this time on our own. Would love to know of any suggestions for bait, last weekend we used Finger mullet and some blue crab we caught on rod and reel. we used floats and carolina rigs. This weekend we will be doing that as well as Gulp Shrimp and Gulp Crabs. The big crabs that are like 2" not the tee tiny ones. I should not have any problems finding the redfish, I have my notes. I am looking for bait and or presentation suggestions on catching a few. I want to hookup with a nice large one.

Are you headed back down Edisto way ??

Bragging may not bring happiness,

I would think IMO that you would have more luck with the 1/4s or Blue Crab Halves for the larger ones

Caught one out last week, those fish will run the edges until the water is high enough to get up in the grass

when you guys say a half or quarter crab, are you talking about a legal sized blue or something else? So youre taking a 5" blue crab, cutting it in half or quarters and using it for bait?

Thanks!

yeah man, I can take a picture next time I do it, rip the shell off, take ta knife or your hands and physically break it into pieces, run the hook through the leg join, like you would a fiddler .... you know if you have a fish, I will put it that way, last time we went through 8, pretty solid bites, lost 3 ....
