Les: "Tyrann Mathieu is no longer on our team. A violation of team policy."

Dang, that is a big loss.

Speculation is that he failed a few pee test. I do not if this is true, but I have not heard of any issue with him.

more talent than brains. I'm not an LSU fan, but you have to respect the program for not giving him special treatment.

From Les Miles:

"This is a very difficult day for our team," Miles said. "We lose a quality person, teammate and contributor to the program. However, with that being said, we have a standard that our players are held to and when that standard is not met, there are consequences."

Really, LSU's substance abuse policy is more lax than USC's. A student said on the radio that the cops were in his apt with drugs dogs. Could be more than what's been said, could be a rumor too.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I think I read in another article that they are thinking he failed a 3rd drug test. That would also make him ineligible to play at all by NCAA rules, so he would have to transfer to a lower tier division to play football this year. It is shame these talented young men do this to themselves when they have so much to look forward to, but at the same time it is a shame that our society will reward him in the end and he will be playing pro football somwhere and held up on a pedestal! Hope this is a wakeup call for him.

Former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu has expressed interest in sitting out this season, staying in class and hoping for a return to the program in 2013, if it can be worked out with the school, according to sources.
