| I absolutly love surf fishing in the fall for reds and black drum. Used to fish morris island surf quite a bit in the past but latley the sand has shifted and ever since they put up the seawall around the lighthouse the fishing has never been the same. Without asking for direct spots, would it be worth it go out to bulls island or capers island for surf fishing? Is it hard to get out there? I know bulls bay is a pain and you have to be careful, but I have a small flats boat so I am not to worried about being stuck for hours. Is it worth the drive to go out to bulls island or capers island to fish the surf? Have any of yall done it with success? Thanks |

Iv'e heard caper's is good. Buddy of mine caught a really nice bonnethead there a little whiles back.
I'm so salt life I sued google earth for giving away all of my fishing spot's. |

The last time I was in Bulls (about 3 weeks ago) the bite was strong. Albeit, mostly shark, but good bite all day. I wasn't surf fishing, but in the boat in the creeks and did some jigging in the Bay. I would imagine the Bay side of Bull Island would be pretty good. There is a pretty good dropoff just off the island. I've never ventured around the ocean side of Bull Island though. Hey, it isn't that far of a drive.... Make a day of it. Beautiful country up there!

Both islands are prime time surf fishing locations. I have caught dozens of 10#, a couple of dozen 15#, and at least a dozen spotails over 30# that included a couple @ 40# and maybe 2 50#'s. That does not include the gator trout, black drum, whiting, crokers and tons of sharks. The fact that it is difficult, and even dangerous to get out there makes it even better. You'll have the beach to yourself most times. Now it's up to you to locate those spots on the beach that hold fish.
